. I think he realized the problem when he saw east discard H at DA. Then he
played KD, SKQ, then a D.
West held:
Jxx
QJ62
Qxxx
Kx
West (star player) did not duck DQ. I guess he had the illusion to be end-
played if he did so.

Ducking DQ would have defeated 3NT here.

But as I said, it would make difference if East had H10.

you have easy 10 tricks. After DA, you need defense mistake to get 9 tricks.
It is not easy for defense though, especially at the table.

发帖数: 2804 | 10 Ducking DQ can never cost at IMPs. Taking DQ is basically giving up.
But this is on BBO, so maybe both declarer and defender didn't concentrate.
At live table, this will not likely happen at high level.
