duplicate from USCIS. I don't know if the "C" just stands for "copy" or

了485的官方要求是797（如果apply 485 based on I-140的话），如果是其它类别，
比如（apply 485 based on I-526）， 那么写的是797C。
所以就比较疑惑到底用797C行不行。 |

发帖数: 3271 | 9 Wrong, 797 is approval notice, 797C is receipt notice.
If your case was rejected, you will have a 797C but no 797.
So officially, you must submit a copy of 797.
But in some cases, they don't care, because 797C also shows your case number
, which they can check.

both are I-797C, i don't think there is any problem. they should be equal. |

I-797 is "orginal" Notice of Action. I-797 C is "copy" of Notice of Action.
If you don't have any lawyer be half you then you will get I-797. If you
have lawyer behalf you then you will get I-797C. |

发帖数: 202 | 14 No need to panic. When your I-140 gets approved, an original approval notice
(I-797) will be sent to the lawyer. In the mean while, a courtesy copy of
the approval notice (I-797C) will be sent to your employer. Difference
between the two is that there is a line at the bottom saying I-797C cannot
be used as a formal approval notice. However, I did not hear any case of
problem caused by using I-797C in 485 submission. I know a lot of people
used I-797C, including myself. So far so good. Some got their green cards
already. |
