publish the salary information for 2008-2010 to see the trend. The economy
took a downturn at the end of 2008 and catch up lately. I'm not sure how the
current salary level is, compared to 2008 that's before the recession...

少了一个多星期的工资。

some one the speak for you, when dealing with higher administration like
dean...
I also agree it is better to ask more for your startup package, instead of
salary...

关于工资，你们当年是给多少就是多少，没问一下？怕过了这次机会，以后涨就难了。

to negotiate a better pay. Also, better to wait till they give you the
formal offer letter if you do want to give it a try. |

case that was many years ago (but not sure if it is real). A statistics guy
got an offer from OSU, and he asked for an unreasonably high salary because
at that time salary in statistics in industry was very high. In the end,
the department was mad and revoked their offer...

salary had little difference because they all followed the guideline. but
the startup had more juice to squeeze.

tone. they won't be offended. worse case they will give you less than 5% - i
'm almost sure they will give you SOME increase.
i asked for 10-15% more than what they offered and they gave me 10%, but
that was 5 years ago, back when the economy was still okay.
