一个关系不错的SC member给我打电话，告诉我原因。被告知我的主要问题是出在跟
dean的面试上，反正我不是dean的favorite。最后在faculty投票前，dean先把自己的
favorite告诉了投票的faculty，结果大多数就按照dean的favorite投了。
看来大家和dean面试千万不要掉以轻心，能少说就少说，言多必失。 |

有些地方dean不参与决定的
我和dean的见面基本都是对方在侃大山。。。

不过没想到这个dean管这么宽，明摆着要按照自己的喜好来hire。 |

发帖数: 107 | 7 不知你是junior还是senior hire。 如果是senior，Dean很关键。有时也管junior
hire，但不多。
During my interview two weeks ago, I had an intense and engaging
conversation with the Dean, to the extent that both of us wished we had more
time to continue the discussion. I could tell from the way he asked
questions that he was and will be very much involved in the process.
Afterwards, the department head told me that the Dean's opinion weights a
lot in this case.
I am sure it varies case by case. However, keep in mind that it is the Dean
who hires, not the department head. Even if the department head and the
search committee supported you, the Dean has every right to say no to that (
therefore he did not even have to influence the departmental votes). For
those deans who do not care much, you want to make sure that he/she is on
your side or at least not against you; for those who care a lot, you want
him/her to be your campaign. Obviously in your case, the Dean became someone
else's campaign.
