Travel and re-entry document
LPR must present admission document upon entry to U.S. or s/he is
inadmissible. Must present special immigrant visa, green card, or re-entry
permit.
Re-try permit
a) May be issued to LPRs or CRs.
b) Apply in U.S. before departure. Departure before the decision does not
effect the validity of the document and it may be picked up at consulate or
overseas DHS offices. May be issued document duiring deportation or
exclusion proceedings withi no effect on the proceedings.
(1) File I-131 together with copy of I-551 (green card) or other evidence
of status (endorsed I-94), tax returns and fee at Nebraska Service Center.
(2) Valid for 2 years and not renewable, but may return to U.S. and get
new one after 2 years. May have up to almost 6 years absence from the U.S.
c) Generally sought when going to be out of U.S. more than one year, or when
need travel document (e. g. Cuban without passport)
d) Possession of re-entry permit does not prevent DHS from inquiring as to
whether holder abandoned his residency. It simply prevents the DHS from
relying solely on the duration of the holder's absence as a basis to
determine abandonment.

绿卡不能连续离开美国一年以上的。否则就视你要放弃永久居留权。
半年到一年以上也会raise the presumption that you want to abandon the LPR
status, which is rebuttable. |
