Tomorrow I am going to get my marriage license with my boyfriend. He is a US
citizen. I am gonna use my current name to apply the license. So when we
receive the marriage certificate, it will have my current name on it. I am
gonna apply my conditional green card on this marriage license, so when I
receive this green card, it will carry my current name.
I am holding a H1B working status, so when we travel out of US, when I come
back to US, if I don't have green card that time, I will need to apply a H1B
visa to come back. There is no doubt they will issue me the visa, but this
is too messy for myself.(p.s the checking rate is quite high now for H1B.)So
our plan is we will get my green card first, then travel.
The traveling is due to my own family's reason, we would like to have
another wedding in China.
My bf wants me to change my last name to his last name. Since we will travel
out of US after wedding here, I don't want make myself messy, that's why I
would like to apply my green card on my current name, same name as my
passport. And we plan to change my last name after we come back to US.
My question is am I able to change my last name on my conditional green card
? How long does it take? And I think I am supposed to change my DL and SSN
card as well. Green Card, DL and SSN, which one is the first one I need to
change?
