How to Start the Career as Data Scientist
In this talk, Yong, a seasoned data expert with 15 years experience as
senior data scientist in big companies like Equifax, Ebay, HP and Space,
will share his thought and experience on career path as data scientist, Yong
will also talk about the some of the interesting data science projects he
did.
Yong's BIO
Yong started playing very "Big Data" from 2000. He has been working on
statistical modeling, pattern recognition, machine learning, hypothesis
testing and Monte Carlo Simulation in the world class research laboratories
for 8 years. After switching to industry, he built spammer detection model
and recommendation engine for MySpace, built all the user targeting models
used by eBay Internet marketing display advertising channel, worked on
marketing mix modeling for budget allocation optimization at HP, did
research on credit risk modeling at Equifax. The item ranking model he built
doubled eBay display ads conversion rate and has been running in Europe and
the US for real time ads targeting. Besides, he has publication in peer
reviewed Journal of Marketing Analytics very recently. Yong also implemented
Gradient Boosting Decision Trees with Random Forest and Bagging, Kalman
Filtering, Markov Chain Monte Carlo, PageRank, Low Rank Matrix Completion
etc. just for fun, his current interests is in network security, deep
learning, and high frequency trading. | p*****r
