poor people from the US govenment. I felt so bad one of my best friends in the
US never heard of Roth IRA after staying here for more than 6 years.
Roth Investment is a quite long topic, and can't really give you an answer in
a few words. But here are some brief points.
1) Contribution limit: $3000 for year 2004 contribution (prior to 04/15/2005),
and you can also contribute $4000 for 2005 (prior to 04/15/2006).

only a portion of your entire porfolio, I suggest you just leave it there at
scottrade. And open two accounts at firstrade: a regular investment account
plus a Roth IRA account at firstrade for contribution of 2005. (I can refer
you to get free trades, in case you need to buy ETFs--close-end index funds
with low expense, but probably you don't need them if I am your investment
advisor:).

don't be panic when market troubles. For long-term investment, I would suggest
to allocate higher portion of small growth and small value than large ones,
because historically small company index (e.g. Russell 2000) beat over large
cap (e.g. SP500), especially in the last five years. Pay more attention on the
value. And you might probably also add a few percent of sector funds (e.g.
