On 03-10-12 at 12:00 PM, a 73-year old lady was waiting at the bus stop
across from Ranch 99 Market at Skyline Plaza when an unknown Chinese female
suspect described as approximately 40 years old, 5’0” tall, 100 lbs. with
shoulder length hair, approached her and asked if she knew of a good herbal
doctor for her husband who was sick. A second female, described as Chinese,
5’2”, 110 lbs., between 50 and 60 years old with a clear complexion and
light skin, heard their conversation and suggested a doctor who treated her
mother-in- law. Both suspects acted as if they didn’t know each other, but
both suggested that they visit the doctor together. An additional female,
also Chinese, approximately 40-50 years old, with a “rounded” face and
eyebrows that were penciled in with makeup, arrived and began talking to all
three women about her grandfather that gives herbal treatments. The third
suspect started talking about a “Magic Mirror” that can see “diseases and
spirits” and could help the first suspect. That suspect then told the
victim that she had a “bad spirit” attached to her and her family and that
she should give her money and gold to be blessed and purified. The suspect
said the money and gold would then be returned in three months. The victim
then agreed to give money and gold. The second suspect paid for a taxi to
drop off the victim at her residence in Pacifica while she collected cash
and jewelry. They then took a bus and a streetcar to a bank on Irving Street
in San Francisco where the victim emptied her safety deposit box of the
jewelry and coins she had in it. They walked to another bank where the
victim withdrew money. The suspects told the victim that she would get all
the money and jewelry in three months and that the “magic mirror” would
tell her how that was to happen. The third suspect told her not to tell
anyone about this because it would create bad luck. The suspect handed the
victim a bracelet for good luck, and the ladies parted ways. A couple weeks
later on Wednesday, 03-28-12, the victim saw a report on the local news
broadcast about a scam that was occurring in San Francisco which was similar
to her own experience. The victim advised her son, and they filed a police
report. The victim feels she could recognize the suspects again. |
