本文研究唐人親自執筆為其妻或妾撰寫的墓誌,亡妻的提法偶亦見於托人撰寫的墓誌中
，多數情況下則是夫君指稱的專利。亡妾的說法則不見於墓誌的正式表達中，是從亡妻
的提法延伸出來的。
墓誌在东漢出現時，僅記死者姓名字里和死期享年，很簡單。西晉時墓誌文體已趨成熟
，後南朝禁止埋銘，北朝則蔚為風氣，現在能見到的唐以前的一千多方墓誌，大多是北
朝、隋代的作品：雖已有一些知名文人參與墓誌寫作，但迄今還沒有見到由配偶親自執
筆撰寫的墓誌。唐代傳世文集中，為配偶撰寫的墓誌也很少，所知亡妻墓誌，只有柳宗
元為其妻楊氏所寫的一篇，亡妾的墓誌，也僅有元稹和沈亞之的兩篇。宋以後地下稍有
出土，數量仍不多。近代以來因大規模基本建設和科學考古的實施，形成有規模有計劃
的墓羣發掘，得以有機會成批出土同屬一家族的墓誌石刻，由配偶親筆撰寫的墓誌也頗
有發現。據本文附表所作的不完全統計，今得見的亡妻墓誌已達八十七篇，亡妾墓誌也
有近二十篇，數量均很可觀。這些墓誌因出於最親近的配偶之手，對妻妾的描述和評價
都出自平日的感受，所述亡妻之慟也出於切身的情感，對了解唐人的家庭生活、夫妻關

却好似在对当今社会现实作出评论和指点。作为他的读者，不得不惊叹他的思想所及竞
是如此深远。
从二十世纪五十年代起，洛克及其思想，在中国曾长期被作为批判对象；相反的，与洛
克针锋相对的法国人卢梭，却被誉为“民主的奠基人”。这种颠倒事实的状况，直到“
改革开放”以后才逐渐有所纠正，被掩埋数十年的这笔人类智慧的宝藏，正开始让中国
民众亲眼目睹它的光芒。
洛克思想中像金子般闪亮的部分，是他的政治哲学（即《政府论》）。是洛克，第一个
系统阐述了现代民主理论的基本理念，是洛克，第一个设计了现代民主政体的基本框架
。如果说，洛克的一些观点，在他之前早已有人陆续提出过，那么应该说，只有到了洛
克那里才被联结起来，组成一个思想的体系。所以，我们可以毫不犹豫地将“现代民主
