yes the supercharger is driven directly by the crankshaft
but boosting then depends on engine speed
which means, when your engine works at a low to medium output,
for example, hwy cruising at 70mph and some 2000ish rpm, and you suddenly
kick down for maximum output, you still need to build up rpm in order
the supercharger can do its best feeding air into the cylinders.
this process will be shorter compared to that of a turbo engine,
