OK, I guess I'm expecting a bit better than average 5pt for a free 2S after
oppo showed a minor suit each. (well my actual hand certainly qualifies).
Man, I'm a believer of insurance policy. In the same round (of swiss) on an
earlier board I bought 5Sx with KJxxxx x Q AKQxx for -200 (again vul vs. not),
and my pd was mad (but I didn't know). The auction was
1S-2D-2S-3D-4C-4H-x-5D-5H-p-5S-x-all pass. The four hands were
9xx KQT9xx xx JTx

I saw this hand on rec.games.bridge.
My analysis is as follows. It is not perfect, but I am quite sure the
perspective is right. It would be more difficult playing imps.
This is MP. And you are defending 5Sx. Some table will play 4Sx. You
are not competing with them. So let's consider 5H. If it goes down,
then no matter what you do you will get a good score. SO we have to
assume that 5H makes. IN this case, we have to defeat those bid and
make 5H. As they will score 650. We have to score more th
