是F1，还是NR）再file married jointly，这样可以比both NR多要些钱回来，但我有
两个问题：
1. 我们可以各自claim $5000的treaty吗？
if both of you came to US as F1, then you still can claim 5000 treaty.
2. 我如果treated as resident，需要补交去年的SS and medicare tax吗？
No matter how many years you are a student in US, you don't need to pay FICA
taxes, unless you start a OPT and have a job.

刚刚打电话去NY的新的VAC问是不是可以DROP OFF，他说不用我妈妈在场。好象意思是
他们只是VAC，材料最后还是送到CONSULATE （应该是1251 6TH AVE， NYC）。好象VAC
电话服务不错。打给consulate就是找不到人问问题，只有语音。
我想我还是去1251 6TH AVE， NYC DROP OFF吧 或者 MAIL IN。（因为8月2号就到30天
期限了）有谁去过纽约亲自递交的？需要妈妈在场吗？需要多长时间？是当场拿到还是

份到期，现在学校开始提醒我h1-b的maximal year问题，他们需要半年的时间来处理延
期问题。

们第三次演讲小组活动定在本周日（10月25日）下午3点到5点进行，地点仍然在Bryant
Park（42nd Street & 6th Avenue）。
请参加过第二次活动的成员准备一个笑话，可以是上次发的材料中的笑话，也可以是一
个新的笑话——只要能让大家哈哈大笑。如果你是没有参加上次的活动，请准备一下简
单的自我介绍让大家都认识你。
之后，我们将进行圆桌脱口秀。这次的主题是“友谊、爱情和家庭。”请所有参加的成
员准备一到两个关于这个话题的问题。
