parents do not sit with the babies 24/7 - they go away for long periods of
time to get food for themselves and for the babies. If there are any
predators around - including people - the parents will not return to the
nest until they no longer see anything or anyone around the area - they do

是白人。交谈得知他们收养了这对韩裔孩子。这是我第一次接触收养家庭。后来单位来
了个新同事，美国人，和他的美国老婆收养了中国女孩。我兴致勃勃地问是中国哪里的
，他说是广西。我问几个。他说起先收养了大女儿；当她八九岁时，夫妻俩带她重访南
宁孤儿院，正巧碰到三个三胞胎女婴无人收养。他们一直想给大女儿找个弟弟妹妹，便
觉得是天意，当即收养了三胞胎。
我带一对子女就够累了；一下子收养三个不是亲生的中国孩子，即便作为中国人，我自
问都没这份勇气。我同事一直从事中国研究，太太是编辑，两人都很忙，也不是有钱人
。看他们打电话和见面时相敬如宾，工作上互相支持；对孩子柔声细语，比亲生父母还
耐心温和。后来得知三胞胎有语言障碍，治疗甚久。同事太太说很多孤儿有这个那个先

我住的这个区每户人家都有自己的车库和Driveway，一般大家都把自己车停自己的
Driveway上。
路上虽然不禁止停车，但一般除了有人搞BBQ、party什么的才会有guest把车停路边之
外，通常是没有人停车的。一方面路本来就不宽，另一方面房子门口的路上停了车的话
，一周来2次的扫地车就会饶过停着车的地方。
特别是这几天，落叶非常多，如果家门口的路被车给停了，那么门口的落叶就只能自己
慢慢吹了！
从上周起，我家门口的路上、正对我房子大门的部位，出现了一辆屎绿色的Nissan
Quest Minivan, 目测至少10年旧。 远看破破烂烂的非常的碍眼，近看布满泥浆灰尘非
常的恶心。
它还紧挨着我的Driveway， 虽然没有戳进来， 但依旧严重影响到了我的进出。

我来列一下这学期学的古典散文课用的书：
世说新语上得最多，英译本不是特别好，很多同学翻译得很灵，比如雅量是cultivated
tolerance，任诞是natural abandonment，豪放是heroic abandonment等等。学世说
同时参考诗品，嵇康和陶潜才是中品，阮籍倒是上品。世说里没有陶潜，陶潜的文风对
当时来说可能太平淡了。
然后学颜氏家训，很喜欢，觉得实在、平稳、深谋远虑，虽然有点陈腐气。世说新语给
我感觉是很多小聪明。
接着学洛阳伽蓝记，也很喜欢，纪实又隐含自己的观点。可惜以前玩洛阳时几乎没注意
过寺庙，只记得白马寺的轮廓线很独特。难以想象以前有那么多寺庙，越是乱世，人心
越惶惶，越寄托于神鬼。现在信佛信教的人也多。
最后学文心雕龙。文人写评论不如颜氏家训、洛阳伽蓝记等接地气，丽词骈文看得费劲
。分析的确透彻。
顺带看了一点田晓菲的beacon fire and shooting star，觉得她写评论挺有现场感，

Let's go back to the beginning — all the way to Adam and Eve, and to the
question: Did they exist, and did all of humanity descend from that single
pair?

people's questions in that day. But of course, people may have stronger
faith on God, if God immediately answer their questions. I believe that God
did reveal things to human, though not in the way human prefer most.
