前一段时间大家讨论基辅战役的得失，非常热烈。最近读了点文章，也写写自己一点鸡
零狗碎的看法。
首先，德国人的首要目标是什么？希特勒的想法是很明确的，那就是消灭红军主力，而
不是攻克莫斯科 (D. Glantz, The Battle for Leningrad, Kansas Univ. Press, pp.
26)。这个逻辑很自然：如果只是攻克莫斯科，俄国人仍然可以抵抗，从历史上看，俄
国人被拿破仑占领了莫斯科，而俄国人笑到了最后；从现实看，俄国人在列宁格勒有工
业，乌克兰有农业，高加索有石油，顿巴斯有工业，莫斯科的工业可以迁到乌拉尔继续
生产，攻克莫斯科并不意味着俄国就会投降，而如果消灭了红军的主力，俄国人想不投

but we don't know how many meaning 'absently' has.
I don't think 'absently' has three meanings.
'absently' is close to the third meaning of 'absent', meaning 'inattentively
'.

那天在一个很小的红绿灯口我方向红灯时没能及时停下来，而垂直方向的车已经启动开
出来了，结果我的车撞上了垂直方向出来的一辆很破的93年的pick-up的侧面（撞在它
的左前轮上），它的车身没有损伤，不过左前轮有点歪了，而我前面的bumper什么的损
伤不小（不过当时车速不快）。对方是一不会说英语的没带驾照的妇女，当时她车里有
个孩子，人都没受伤，那女的有哭。
警察来了给了我一张ticket （罚款金额80多），然后他写了个上庭日期A（1月上旬）
，他在写的时候，我跟他说我寒假要回国，并告诉他什么时候回来，也就说他开始写的
日期我不在美国，于是这个警察就帮我把日期改了，改到了我回来后的某一天B。问题
就出在这里，他改的时候，只改了给我的那张绿色的，而他自己手里的那张日期还是一
开始那个日期，他忘改了（当然这些也是后来才知道的）。
车祸后1小时，我跟我的保险公司报告了车祸的事情，并于次日把相关单子寄往保险公
司。
于是我回国又回来，等到上庭的前一天（我手里那张的日期），我在我的信箱里收到一

1. I-140 beneficiary应该要有合法身份。要不然，让一大批等排期的人蹲移民监，有
违AC21以及大统领的法律文本和讲话精神。State Department发布了第二排期，但是避
而不见。但是没有具体提到140 EAD，只是说道要承认I-140 beneficiary的"legal
standing"。
2. EAD拖拖拉拉，发得太慢，USCIS居然还不承认，然后借口“国家安全”为由，想要
在新的法规中取消90-day的deadline

地的中文，包括文言文与民间文学的白话文，和我们的关系日渐生疏，而英文的影响，
无论来自直接的学习或是间接的潜移默化，则日渐显著，因此一般人笔下的白话文，西
化的病态日渐严重。一般人从大众传媒学到的，不仅是流行的观念，还有那些观念赖以
包装的种种说法；有时，那些说法连高明之士也抗拒不了。今日的中文虽因地区不同而
互见差异，但共同的趋势都是繁琐与生硬，例如中文本来是说「因此」，现在不少人却
爱说「基于这个原因」；本来是说「问题很多」，现在不少人却爱说「有很多问题存在
」。对于这种化简为繁、以拙代巧的趋势，有心人如果不及时提出警告，我们的中文势

The Australian senate rejected a marriage equality bill Thursday, just days
before this weekend’s large Mardi Gras celebration in Sydney.
According to The Age, the bill was defeated 45 to five, with one third of
the senators absent from the vote in conscientious objection.
