？是说对acdemia没有兴趣了，还是就说因为异地太辛苦呢？自己曾经也是一只打
算坚持acdemia的，但很无奈。当时申请postdoc时phd老板写了推荐信才拿到postdoc的
，也不知道会不会损坏两个老板的关系，因为统计的pool也不大，又都是国人，一直
在纠结怎么做才可以比较decent。还有，需要写书面的辞职信么？还是当面谈一下就可
以？ |

她开始独立研究的能力，申请 NSF 常要求写你的 post doc mentoring plan.
现在这个博后告诉你要读个Master, 这不 make sense, 这通常和你的项目的objective
都抵触， 赶快换人，想读master,没问题，就别趟博后这条路 |

发帖数: 2293 | 8 美国的学术界肯定还是看 Publication. If you keep the good papers coming, yes.
Otherwise ... can do (or have to do) a Post Doc in between.
But do a full time job and try to do research aside, it is very much not
easy. Except you don't have a life.
The truth is, ... you are no longer a student, and you move on with your
life, and all the people you love and care would like to share time with you
... very tough. I see someone go back to acdemia from industry, but he used
to be a scientist/researcher not a SDE. |

一起找吧。
但是因为时间有限，还要做RESEARCH发一些PAPER，还有些论文，答辩什么的。
想请教一下，Programming Interview Exposed, Programming， Pearls, Careercup
150这些适合找INDUSTRY工作的书是否也有必要看看。也就是说对如果找POSTDR或者是
一些公司的RESEARCH部门多少也会有帮助？

) here under such conditions. There are so many desperate chemistry postdocs
in usa and chinese ones are the least competitive.
If the wife cannot find any job in two year, the family'd better go back to
china.
By the way, why doesn't the wife consider her own career earlier? It is a
little too late now. The older your husband is, the less competitive in the
job market. |

现在美国越来越多的公司有成本压力，创新的艰难， 所以以买卖公司为主，来维持盈利， 制药界， 计算机行业 就是个例子。还有二十年前的帝国化学公司(ICI)

能再延了，EAD也没有及时批下来，所以被迫quit了工作。不想做acdemia了，所以去年
底拿到EAD后就一直积极的找工业界。刚刚找到一个contractor job （Staffing
company A 雇佣我，我给company B工作，但应该是company A出Payroll）。现在有点
担心485会被RFE EVL，若真的被RFE EVL，只能是中间的staffing company A给我出信
，我问了 company A，他们说会出信，但一定会写明这是contractor job。有人有经验
么，这样明确写明是contractor job的EVL可以么？ 多谢大家了，也bless我早日绿了

一是想说这个MARK MAYER在我去他实验室之前早已臭名昭著,他的实验室就是他的王国,
此人脾气暴厉极难容人,能幸存的多是牛人.记得我第一天去所秘书报到我问当时的身份
在NIH能呆多久,秘书回答我"if you can survive in mark's lab we can extend your
appointment for another two year". 但是NIH可以说是所有ACDEMIA里监管最严的地
方,特别是对雇主平等对待雇员方面.为了应对这些政策, 此人变态到写黑名单, 使用各
种手段边缘化他想赶走的人. 不相信你去看看他的文章不少著者就是他自己, 他身为
SECTION CHIEF却是光杆司令根本没有小老板.
另想说的是我也并非特别无能, 现在一作5,6分的有三篇,10分的一篇, COAUTHOR的若干
,如果不是在他实验室浪费时间,或许还可多做点. 错就错在当时太天真,以为博后老板
还真的会TRAINING POSTDOC. |

I think one important thing to successfully start up in acdemia, other than
the continous interest in research and the solid backgound knowledge, is to be
a good, mature person: charming, well prepared, straight-talking, self
confident, sincere, etc. A lot of smart people become superior to other smart
people because of these.
At least some of the points discussed in this articles are not something you
can plan or you can control. So I don't fully agree wiht the auth |

1. find people in your academic family, like former lab members,
advisor's co-workers. You need to talk to the advisor and seek
his/her help.
2. connect to people in your field. Go to conference or job fair
and talk to people from either acdemia or industry who is in the
field you are working or interested in working in the future.
3. network with your college friends (former classmate or friends in US).
Keep
in contact with them through phone, email, or internet (linkedin...) and

象这种scientist, project leader的不是很多
恳请有经验的分享一些面试问题。。。
我以前的只有碰到过一个还算时间长的面试，一般都是一个小时就完了，当然俺面试经
验很少，只有一个小biotech，那个头也不是很懂专业，所以没啥困难的问题，剩下的
都是acdemia的
主要还有最近正在协议离婚中，比较憷跟家庭相关的问题，是说还是不说，肯定应该会
问的。。。 |
