背景说一下：德州大学奥斯汀分校（其实是总校好不好）在收录学生的时候把种族当作
考虑因素之一，某白人MM被拒不爽，于是状告学校录取学生的做法种族歧视。
初级法院在案子没有上庭之前判定MM败诉（Summary Judgment)。
MM上诉，上诉法院维持原判，说根据以前最高法院的判决，虽然任何与种族歧视的政府
措施都要以所谓“严格审查”的标准来断定其合（宪）法性，但在教育问题上，因为
student diversity是一个正当而且非常重要的政府目标（legitimate and compelling
state interest)，法院会尊重大学自己来掌握分寸；除非学生能证明学校的作为不正
当（lacks good faith)，否则不会认为大学的招生措施违法。MM继续上诉到最高法院

根据《Bell curve》一书，犹太人其中一个族裔智商最高，华人其次，那些黑人、拉丁
、西裔都是垫底的，他们天生智商低了，当然要在后天入学上有所帮助。再说很多底层
人成长环境这么差，想出头本来就很难，没有政府的帮忙进不了好学校更难成才。俺读
过斯坦福招生办主任写的一本关于录取的书，里面提到affirmative action，就是这个
观点。
至于对中国人，她认为不存在歧视。首先中国人录取率并不低，只是分数普遍更高而已
。另外最重要的原因是中国人校友子女太少，体育特招太少。
如果中国人想在本科入学上造反的话，那就造体育特招的反，反正也轮不到自己，当然
就造反；也可以造校友子女的反，常春藤学校研究生不算校友的，本科录取没优势，斯
坦福这种学校才算。 |

要說聽後感其實就兩條，
一來是對待亞裔的態度的確跟60年代對待猶太人的態度是一樣的，
你們聰明能幹會掙錢，那麼要享受這個國家的各種福利，你就得忍著，
否則滾回老家去。
這個國家首先是白人的，然後是黑人的，現在開始包括南美裔，
什麽時候真的兼容並包亞裔，恐怕還未知。
也許要土共倒臺，中國社會納入所謂普世價值的意識形態，
大家平等對話，美國真正重視中國的地位而不僅僅是荷包的時候。
雖然中國人不代表亞裔全體，
但中國是亞洲地緣政治最重要的組成。
華裔在美國也幾乎是亞裔的標杆。

发帖数: 45 | 43 本人小本畢業, 沒身份, 但搞了張deferred action的EAD(valid Dec-2014)回來, 所以
可以開始找工作, 最近都拿了好幾家的ONSITE, 有大的有小的, 感覺距離OFFER應該很
近了.
這幾家的HR或者MANAGER問我的working status, 我只說EAD跟它的有效期, 當他們問什
麼類型的EAD時, 我就說不是OPT的EAD, i got it independently and there is no
need for employer's sponsorship at this moment and in the future. 估計奧巴這
4年內都不會除消Deferred action所以樂觀估計EAD應該可以一直用到2018年(renew 2
次, 每次2年).
如果拿了OFFER, 它們會知道我的身份嗎? 小公司的MANAGER跟HR很近, 估計如果HR知道
了所有人也知道, this makes me very uncomfortable. 大公司的話(比如說BB, 高盛)
, MANAGER應該不會過問這些東西.

我自己刚来的时候糊里糊涂的注册了这个payment protection服务，最后还是cancel掉
了。记得前一阵有同学这里问过，不小心注册了这个服务怎么办。现在好了，根据
class action，曾经注册过这个服务的都有机会获得一定的赔偿，数目不会很大，几十
