校的学生。我只是一个有基本的自尊心，不为五斗米折腰的人。对不起，一个“世界级
”让主题偏离了方向，现在去掉这个无关的词。对不起。
我只是觉得Google非常官僚和自大。要了成绩单，现在又要第二次推荐信。这种东西感
觉只有申请研究生院的时候才需要的，为这个去麻烦导师会被他笑话的。我想知道的是
，到底其它公司要不要advisor的reference letter。

只好开帖来求指教。
三个月的unemployment就快到了，Ph.D.的advisor愿意帮我挂靠，他可以给我出一封
letter，问了international office，也只需要一封official letter，就可以在SEVIS
上改status。想问给学校做volunteer一般还需要什么文件不？发信问了系里秘书，推
说不知道。发信问学校,没收到回信。
如有类似经验，请帮忙说说你用过的文件，非常感谢啊！ |

着他。周六一大早就起来处理它的email，还不停给我发email。现在还在跑那破文章的
program。要不是为了躲它，我也不会拼死往industry钻。这下可好，它还不依不饶。
咋整呢？搞翻了有啥后果啊。还没找到工作的我。有什么对策拖呢 |

你找工作的reference里面得有他吧（当然，你可以不列他，但是这就很。。。）
以后你要申EB1的话，也要找他帮忙
如果你真的忙的不行，就跟他说实话，让他赶紧把你的项目给你师弟师妹们 |

还是公司的new hire, 我每天才睡4个小时，老板我真心没时间改paper, 要不老大你让

retirement plan,然后负责管理你的退休投资（除了401k之外的都可以），当然了钱都
要放在LPL里面，either IRA or non-IRA. 他们每年收你的portfolio的1.2%
这个听起来还挺省心的，对我这种不懂理财投资的人来讲，要不要试试看呢？这个fee

发帖数: 407 | 38 有一个业界的人物，他本身并不是什么公司的高管之类，不是说有多大的power,但因为
其特定业务的关系，他在业界有较广泛的关系。一直想请他做advisor，甚至将来更重
要的business relationship。所以有跟他保持着联系，经常给他updates。但除此之外
，也没有做别的什么。
最近的一次updates是我到他办公室的，目的是想请他帮写一个东西。这个东西其实没
有任何commitment或liability的，我找的其它人都很乐意就答应。但这次他没有像以
往那么爽快，最终没有给我写，不知何故，也不好问。
Holiday来了，我想再sweeten一下这个关系。所以想有什么法子。以往只是发个email
，贺卡之类的。今年想send一个gift或gift card，但又不知什么东西合适,多少合适。
还有就是想啊，刚刚人家拒绝了一个请求，然后马上就给gift是不是让人家有压力啊？
所以想请教大家，看大家是如何维持这样的重要关系的。谢谢！ |
