中日之间的文化交流史上，有着许多有趣味也有意味的事。从大的方面说，有两个
时期的情形特别引人注目。一是在中国唐代，一是在近代。在唐代，是日本贪婪地向中
国学习，甚至是在与中国文化接触后，大和民族才首次与文字遭遇，从此才学会了书写
。日语的“假名”（字母）不过是汉字的变体。而在近代，则是中国拼命地向日本学习
。别的方面且不论，仅就语言文字方面说，在近代，倒是日本成了汉语的输出国。日本
“汉语”，冲击着东亚各国的语言系统，当然也大量进入中国的汉语中，成为中国人日
常语言的重要组成部分。
在近代由日本输入的汉语词，被称作日语“外来语”，这里也借用这种称谓。在“
外来语”上加上引号，是为了与直接来自西方的外来语（如沙发、咖啡、逻辑等）相区
别。因为这二者毕竟有些不同。
现代汉语中的日语“外来语”，数量是很惊人的。据统计，我们今天使用的社会和
人文科学方面的名词、术语，有70％是从日本输入的，这些都是日本人对西方相应语词
