Altimeters use air pressure to determine elevation, which can be affected by
too many factors, such as temperature and weather system. Any serious GPS
used for navigation has a barometer built in as a back up measure when there
is no good satellite signal (not because barometers are more accurate). In
that sense, assuming the barometer in the GPS is as good as a standalone
unit, the GPS is at least as accurate as an altimeter.

A patent showing drone technology has appeared. It looks like this patent is
more about the movement and location of a drone camera, as it measures GPS
locations, has an altimeter and can control the horizontal & vertical
position of the camera.
I’m not sure if Canon is working on a drone, a drone camera or just random
technology pertaining to drones.

上机之前我和Tigger有过简短对话。了解到周末生意好的时候每天要跳二十次之多。
Tigger脸膛很红，不知是晒的还是每天跳若干次形成抹不去的rush。
Tigger问how do u feel，我说Excited。其实此时的心情远非兴奋或紧张这么单纯。在做
一件比较刺激的事之前，过多肾上腺素让人空洞，感觉像在飘，等待悬着的心落地。
也许飞机太小，让你感觉一切都很假。Tigger在闭目养神。blake拍了点外景后采访他，
他做了个鬼脸又佯装睡去。又来采访我，面对镜头，我一直保持微笑，不过有点僵硬。
坐我旁边的小伙带着两个耳钉，面对即将到来的第十二次单跳一脸轻松。还夸我镇静。
同行的美国女孩看起来有些紧张，我们相视一笑，算是鼓励。
直到我注意到Tigger手腕上的手表其实是个Altimeter，才意识到我们已经在９０００
尺的高空。大家开始转身换位，坐在教练大腿上＇组合＇，虽然有些不雅－－美国女孩羞得
满脸通红－－也没有别的选择。

ANT+ Powermeter, has a barometric altimeter, shows temperature, and most
importantly, its battery lasts 18 hours. The 10-hour battery in 305 is just
no enough. |

working after 1 year---always pointing @ NE 35 +/- 5 now(maybe someone
waiting for me in that direction.....). barometer and altimeter worked out
really well from -50m to 6300m. I haven't got a chance to test'em above
6500m yet. |

Yes :), seriously. That's how the USGS 7.5 minute series maps were drawn in
the 50s and 60s. People literally walked with a 100 foot measure across the
continent. Granted some rurual areas were surveyed by ariel photos.
Satellite survey came in the picture in the 80s and 90s which made surveying
a lot cheaper. USGS is in fact publishing a new set of 7.5 minute maps in
digital format with vectorized contour lines and satellite images. The
