Ryan at Miami University in Oxford, OH.
I wasn’t aware until recently but Paul Ryan is Miami University alumnus.
This is of particular interest to me as my father was a professor at Miami,
my mother worked there many years, and my brother and I both went to Miami

看，最获益，或者严格地说，相对于亚裔华裔，最为获益的，应该还是白人
下面文章写得很清楚：

request. As all projects you conducted as TA or RA are funded not by
yourself. The outcomes of your research belong to the university and your
adviser has every right to request your codes.
As many projects will continue after a student working on it is graduated,

我的问题主要是针对need-aware学校的，关于那种既不是need-based, 也不是真正意义
的merit-based的scholarship.有人直接叫它tuition discount,我觉得很形像。
1）据说这种奖学金偏向给EFC>COA的家庭，就是说你不需要资助，反而拿得到，是真的
吗？
2）Alumnus的二代，兄弟姐妹比较容易拿到吗？
3）在这种奖学金上，是不是EA比RA机会比较多呢？
4) 有些学校要求/建议，如果申请merit-based aid, 也要填Profile. Profile/CCS上
最后有个问题，好像是how much your family can contribuition to the college
cost? 原文记不住了。他们为什么这么问呢？如果EFC>COA了，这个问题这么答才比较
有利呢。就是不想砸锅卖铁付full-tuition,才申请的呀，难道打自己嘴巴？ |

地点上来说，New Haven肯定生活更舒服一些，虽然治安稍差，但是有校警校车，出入
都开车，一般都没有问题。而且48000免税的工资活的舒舒服服的，New Haven的租金（
学校的房子$1300能租2b的town house），物价也比Boston低很多。
导师来说，院士也要比AP强很多很多，推荐信的强弱肯定不同。别说申faculty，申业
界如果导师有名也是事半功倍。另外，和同实验室出去的多联系，以后内推的机会可能
也很多。
Networking，Boston肯定要比CT要好很多，但是也是在牺牲了前两者之后的选择。CT也
有一些药厂，也有职业协会，例如SAPA-CT，跟朋友多交流一下对之后职业发展也有很
大帮助。
另外，除非是你现在文章很strong，着急申绿卡。否则建议第二年底再开始办waiver，
转身份。要不然，J1的免税都浪费了。postdoc这点工资，如果不免税，简直生不如死

automobile accident Saturday in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula that claimed one
of their lives. Huimin Han passed away as a result of injuries she
sustained during the incident. A second student, Yuhua Sun remains in
