chapter 11.1 A Gate And A Path
Recognizing a number of such phases in the life and experience of a believer
, we note now a further fact, namely that, though these phases do not
necessarily occur always in a fixed and precise order, they seem to be
marked by certain recurring steps or features. What are these steps? First
there is revelation. As we have seen, this always precedes faith and
experience. Through His Word God opens our eyes to the truth of some fact
concerning His Son, and then only... 阅读全帖

The Show down
Darkness engulfs me. My body tenses up and I tell myself to relax. The shaft
of my spear is wet with the sweat of anticipation and fear coming down my
stiff hands. I take a deep breath and think about the peaceful times I have
had with my beautiful and elegant partner in the forest meadow and stream
just relaxing and forgetting about what we actually have become...
The speech of a senator comes indistinctly through the trap door that
separates me and the bloody arena. It is probabl... 阅读全帖

A Sister's Eulogy for Steve Jobs
I grew up as an only child, with a single mother. Because we were poor and
because I knew my father had emigrated from Syria, I imagined he looked like
Omar Sharif. I hoped he would be rich and kind and would come into our
lives (and our not yet furnished apartment) and help us. Later, after I’d
met my father, I tried to believe he’d changed his number and left no
forwarding address because he was an... 阅读全帖

Which statement(s) are true? (Choose all that apply)
A. IS-A relationships always rely on inheritance.
B. IS-A relationships always rely on instance variables.
C. IS-A relationships always require at least two class types.
D. IS-A relationships always rely on polymorphism.
E. IS-A relationships are always tightly coupled.
答案是 A,C,D
A 简单。
我不明白另外两个
C 不一定非要class, 可以从一个接口继承阿。
D IS-A可以体现多态性,但是说always rely on好像太强了。
那位牛人指导一下?

It’s finally time to apply for a job (or maybe even to accept/decline an
offer) or make a career change – something you’ve been looking forward to
for a long time. Your background or major in accounting, finance, or
economics has prepared you with a desirable skillset and a valuable degree.
It’s decision time ... 阅读全帖

A conversation with Robert Lefkowitz, Joseph Goldstein, and Michael Brown

Today we shift the format of our Conversations with Giants in Medicine and
allow three of our most charismatic giants (Robert Lefkowitz, Joseph
Goldstein, and Michael Brown) to interview each other (Figure 1). Lefkowitz
(Duke University) is known for his seminal discoveries in understanding G
protein–coupled receptor function. The legendary partnership between Brow... 阅读全帖

Leaving Science

Why I’m leaving
I have decided, after 40 years as a lab scientist and 24 years running my
own lab, to shut it down and leave. I write this to explain why, for those
of my friends and colleagues who’d like to know. The short answer is that I
’m tired of being a professor. Indeed, I know that I can’t continue
indefinitely, and I would much rather have people ask why I am leaving so
soon, than why I haven’t already gone[1]. The long answer follows. It’s
not 100% tru... 阅读全帖
