空中搜寻小组出动直升机协助搜救，并未寻获生还者。雷尼尔山位于西雅图东南方约86
公里处。
雷尼尔山国家公园发言人沃德（Patti Wold）今天指出，2名艾尔平登山国际公司（
Alpine Ascents International）的向导，带着4名登山客在5月26日进去山区，挑战难
度指数较高的路线，原订30日结束行程下山，却逾期未归。
这组登山队最后一次与外界联系是在5月28日，透过卫星电话告知所在地点为海拔3900
公尺处。
这是雷尼尔山30年来最严重的一次山难。1981年6月21日，11名登山客因为雪崩而罹难
