senior research associate都没戏，目前有两个offer，一个是医疗器械公司的QA，做
complaints investigation，似乎属于quality engineering. 另一个是做research
associate，药厂做生物实验。
如果做RA以后的发展道路就还是做实验争取scientist吧，不知道大公司里面的
scientist是不是也要一天到晚看paper想课题。做QA这个不知道发展空间？是不是和
regulatory也挺相关的？女生，不想太劳累，有个6-8万工资也挺满足了，请各位大侠

首先是我最近看了几遍电影Negotiator,当然电影不是国会证词，连圣经都没有摆。里
面说一个人撒谎的时候，眼睛向上看，然后眼球翻转，电影里说是因为这个人在调用"
creative cortex",当然我也不是在影射眼睛斜视的少数人群。不过从我个人来讲，调
用这个cortex的时候，tends to say "en, or ah..."来拖延时间, not say "no", "

DETROIT — The risk of engine fires is forcing General Motors to recall 475,
000 Chevrolet Cruze compact cars.
GM said Friday that the fires can ignite when fluids drip onto a plastic
shield below the engine. GM knows of 30 fires caused by the problem. No
injuries have been reported.

but cannot apply for some grants such as NSF career award. Also most of the
time the tenure track associate position only has 3 years tenure clock while
assistant has 6 years tenure clock. |

在医学院里，很多是这样的：
postdoc--->research associate (or Staff Scientist)--->Senior scientist (or
instructor)--->research assistant professor
这种情况下，research assistant professor level比较高，pay level 和assistant
professor 差不多,甚至更高.7,8万不算高,10万以上也很正常
但在某些学校,比如UCLA,没有什么instructor 啥的,research assistant professor
几乎等同于research associate, 4万的pay level很正常. |

没有tenure的副教授，其实就title上好听，实际在申请funding上不见的实惠。
四个例子：
（1）NIST做了几年永久职位，funding多，方向急需，美国白人，给tenure+associate。
（2）毕业多年，回伊朗教授然后归海做医学中心的那种ap，类似于rap，给associate
但没有tenure；
（3）牛校物理系tenure未遂，一般学校给副教授但没有tenure；
（4）大公司经历，副教授但没有tenure。 |

文委员会成员（除了外系的委员）一起把我告到Associate Dean，说我干扰论文答辩。
我只是在正常提问时间问了问题，以及在答辩开始前问了一个程序问题（为什么不公开
通知？为什么不公布论文摘要？）提问时间结束之后，我立即离场，没干扰论文委员会
的投票。就因为这，我又成了被告，说我问了太多问题，干扰学生回答问题，说话语调
不对，等等。Associate Dean连同HR一起拷问我，又要给我纪律处分。有人建议我请律
师，有必要吗？
这不是坑，但我是奇葩，遇到的事也是只有奇葩才能遇到的事。 |
