After discussing the names of the Mediator, the instructor now deals with
the states. "States" refer to the relationship with God. Lord's Days 14, 15
and 16 deal with the state of humiliation, which is divided into degrees. "
Degrees" view the ever-deepening process of Christ's suffering. Over against

vinism is a cult because it gives people this assurance and in the meantime
condemns those who do not follow their doctrines. That the Calvinism is so
popular shows how weak their faith in the all-loving God. Calvinists prefer
a Satanic God who can give them the assurance of salvation but condemn most
of mankind to hell. |
