Around 1.5 million homeless as US enters 2011.
The number of homeless people appears to be even more astonishing in China,
surpassing 200 million according to a rough estimate.

Asking for a candidate's password is more prevalent among public agencies.
When Justin Bassett interviewed for a new job, he expected the usual questions about experience and references. So he was astonished when the interviewer asked for something else: his Facebook username and password。
Bassett, a New York City statistician, had just finished answering a few character questions when the interviewer turned to her computer to search for his Facebook page. But she couldn't see his private profil... 阅读全帖

Is there anybody here ever really read Das Kapital, the most important
economic book? Please read it first before you make any "astonishing
discoveries".
Your comments here are more like one without any knowledge of chemistry tell
E. J. Corey that there is sth. wrong with your synthesis. That's rediculous
.

Energy surplus leads to less selective pressure leads to diversity.
It is the same thing as in coral reef which demonstrates astonishing
biological diversity.
Think about it, those colorful fishes are easy targets.
For homo sapiens, Agriculture is the first peak of Energy surplus and fossil
fuels are the current.

Mongols and Manchus are so different...
Yuan and Qing are so different too...
Manchus were just astonished by the Han Chinese civilization and tried hard
to become a part of it; Mongols first approached Islamic and Christian
civilization before approaching Han Chinese civilization. Those Mongols
ruled middle east and Russia, very much localized. However, the Khan's
family ruled China just kept their culture original.

Hard to say anywhere in today's world is any cleaner. Just suger coated and
polished enough to not to show you the shady parts. Besides, folks like us
are so far away from these power centers, that we may never see the ugliness.
And practically that WAS the golden age of Italy, when it is the hub of
world commerce. Enormous wealth flows through it. Even today we can visit
the splendid masterpieces and grand architectures of the era, which is the
positive proof of the power and wealth of the day....
