snowing all the time. We got soaked, we got cold, but we had fun.
On day 1, we hiked to the camp site near reflection lake, built camp, then
climbed up to the Castle-Pinnacle saddle, found a nice slope and did two
laps.
The avy danger was between moderate and considerable. We dug a snow pit
before we decided to ski down to the bowl. The new snow was soft, wet powder

Cooking and having breakfast in the sheltered kitchen, we discussed what to
do next. Obviously, the avy danger increased from moderate/considerable to
considerable/high on steep slope due to the heavy snowfall, our activities
were really limited. Several guys also mentioned they were all soaked
yesterday and felt cold and wanted to go back to cars. We decided to head
back to cars first.

Like you said, it is better than nothing, with properly use of avalung, you
will have a better chance of survival.

本以为可以松口气了，这几天一提醒发现snow gear还缺一大堆。基本上是：
bivy sack: 这个比较没谱，便宜的贵的都有，不知道要不要买。
snow shovel：要求要买金属的，塑料的不行。
snow picket： 最常见的是MSR Coyote，这个要买3ft的？ 2ft的要不要？
glacier rope: 这个要8mm*30m的dry rope？
stove：去年REI打折的时候买了个MSR pocket rocket，据说烧水很慢，看来要退掉。
那该买啥？Dragonfly? Whisperlite? Reactor?
pot: 多大的合适？1L?
ice screw: 上次捡了一个，估计再买一个就差不多了。
ice tool: 先不管。
ice crampon：上次减价的时候买了一个BD Cyborg step in的，这东西不知道配la
Sportiva的红鞋行不行，不过我还有一双plastic boots

One thing I learn from Avy1 course is that not to under estimate the risk
based on avy advisory. The forecast is to give an idea for a large area
while each slope is with different conditions(wind/temperature/snow pack/
aspect,etc) and need to keep eyes open and evaluate carefully. Given there
were recent avalanche debris observed, extra caution should be taken.

没法爬。
camp muir好多人在小木屋憋了好几天了，尤其是很多外地来的，尽管Avy danger很高
还是出发了。本地的好点，危险大了就算了，反正以后还能来。 |
