Bellarmine/St. Francis/Mitty are Catholic, with Bellarmine is all-boys.
Castilleja is all-girl, non-sectarian. Harker is non-sectarian.
Normally, schools with religious background are more affordable.
There are other less-known private HS. These few are all pretty good
depending on your needs.
For academic, I would look at curriculum. If you're only interested in "
numbers", then 25%, 75% of SAT/ACT score, AP passing rate and college
placement.

held at period 0 at Bellarmine, together with the boys from Bellarmine.
There're other events are run together between the two since they're pretty
close.
If that's your only concern ....... :) But yeh, there're some studies/
papers for the pro & con for single sex schools. |

估计那个合伙上公立的都是底层老印吧？
好像拼命去好学区的华人很多，还有不少人借别人一个地址去好区。。。
看看这个名单就知道大部分老印上私立，老中上公立。
BTW, 我个人很讨厌老印,
就是看不惯某些人太阿Q,人家老印教育上确实比中国人舍得花钱，
以后老印在美国混的好也是很自然的。。。

会一起举办。Notre Dame 规模较小，听说象orchestra/band 及一些课是要到

发帖数: 8711 | 9 好的non-religious 高中，比如Harker，绝大部分是初中部上去的。好的religious高
中，象Bellarmine, St Francis, 基本只招Catholic。这些给外面的名额都特别少。除
了公立初中想去的，还有Challenger之类大量只有初中的私立，都要去抢那少有的几个
入学名额。
我知道有人考了Bellarmine入学考试的top 1%, 也只能在waiting list上。当然你要有
别的特长，体育，音乐，竞赛（Mathcount regional 入围）等等，会容易进些。 |

英国卫报报道，美国康乃狄克州(Connecticut)费尔菲尔德大学（Fairfield
University）的Linda Henkel博士指出在婚礼或者生日派对上拍照（不管在拍谁），都
可能损害我们的记忆，让我们对婚礼或者生日派对的记忆没法完整。
Henkel博士以「照片内容是否对记忆有影响」进行一项研究，她带领一群大学生参观艺
术博物馆（ Bellarmine Museum of Art）。受试者被要求一边在博物馆溜达一边拍照
，同时也要记住某些展览物。然后，研究人员会在隔天测试这群大学生的记忆，看能记
住多少展览品。

来源polarislist。看点：
PA的两个高中尖子多，这还没算Stanford；
Lynbrook/MSJ也很不错，Monta Vista/Saratoga要差点；
Dougherty Valley/Los Altos/Irvington/Burlingame/Mills偏低，
Menlo-Atherton/San Mateo偏高，这两校的加州统考成绩（schooldigger）很一般；
如考虑学生人数，私校录取率最高。
西雅图地区总体不如湾区，只有3个学校超过5人。

至Bellarmine, Saint Francis，该算是小规模高中。但我同意你说得，college
acceptance给的“底气不足”，还把2010/2011都放在一起, 有点那个。。。。与其这
样，我反而喜欢某些公立高中的直接登每个学生matriculation的学校。不过很多学校
都喜欢只罗列发出acceptance offer的学校。容易好看呀，只要有些出色的学生，top
college一网打尽。 |

发帖数: 1720 | 31 Castilleja, Menlo, 从学费到大学录取都与Harker相似级别。Pinewood 不太确定，但
不会差太远。从学生组成上，C，M， P white占大多数。
其它教会学校学费相对便宜些。Bellarmine 在这一类中是学术最突出的，robotic
team, 奥数，科学竞赛什么的都有学生参加选拔。再下来应该是Saint Francis。
Mitty 也不错，但以体育见长，是唯一一个有羽毛球队的私立高中。 |

湾区比较好的较大的私立，我的排名
1）Harker （非教会）非常注重学习
2）St Francis High （教会）
3）Bellarmine College Preparatory （教会，男校）
4）Valley christian high （教会，校园风景好，体育好）

发帖数: 118 | 36 Harker好大家都知道。这个Basis是何方神圣啊? 我看他主页上也写着着重STEM。可是
Basis起源于Arizona，一共有16个分校，居然今年Intel科学奖连一个semifinalist也
没有。要知道Harker有15个，Lynbrook都有4个。虽然科学奖这事很大程度上取决于辅
导老师和家长。可是16个高中一个都没有，在弯曲公校里恐怕都算below average了。
Bellarmine和St Francis的SAT平均分都是1800多，在公校中属于第一梯队和第二梯队
之间。但是它们可是要考试进的，虽然不难进，但至少刷掉了差生。而公校是划片的，
除了智力有问题的，都得收。我觉得花钱上这些学校还不如在Cupertino租个房，每月$
5000，同时把自己的非学区房出租，每月收$3000，相当于$24000上Cupertino的学校。
如果两个娃挨得近，每年可以省两个私校钱。 |

选择去象是Bellarmine, St Francis, Presentation等的学校，因为这些学校只有高中
，大家都是新学生，social不会那么challenge .如果高中再去公立，哪怕是好高中都
有bully问题，外来的和尚不容易融入，不被bully排挤已经相当不错。

有一点意见：高中4年，最好用毕业生人数比较好。一般高中的enrollment除4，就是毕
业人数.所以百分比应该x4
另外高中的enrollment和UCBenrollment没有区别清晰。直接说毕业人数粗算=高中的
enrollment/4。可能用中文大家更一目了然。
harker含小学到高中，但每年只有约170人毕业。最好放进去。
还有几家湾区大家比较关心的私校也可以参加比较:

最想不到的是几大公校和著名私立（university high, menlo school, Castilleja，
college prep)数据不相上下，远超普通私立(St Francis, Bellarmine)。是berkeley/
NMSF数据和大藤不match，还是是加州的私校不给力，还是湾区几大公立高中的家长推
的牛？

你的第一个问题其实随便在本论坛搜索一下就能查到。请见下面。可以看到除了一所最
好的私立，其他的都没有进入第一梯队。为什么拿UCBerkeley而不是哈佛斯坦福比，是
因为哈佛斯坦福录取人数就那么几个，数据量太小。
