Ruth Benedict (née Fulton) (June 6, 1887 - September 17, 1948) was an
American anthropologist.
She was born in New York.
She received her PhD along with Margaret Mead under Franz Boas at Columbia
University where she subsequently taught until her death. A cultural
relativist, in her work Patterns of Culture (1934), she describes the tiny
subset of human behavior exhibited in any society. Benedict is best known for

实人的要求不高，只要给一线希望就行了。就像中国的科举制度，其实只不过给普通人
家的孩子留了一丝光亮，就使多少莘莘学子怀着“朝读圣贤书，暮登天子堂”的梦想跋
涉在赶考的路上，就使垂暮的封建王朝又延续了一千多年。目前美国的状况，即使权利

应该有阶层，有贫富差距，这样才会有碰撞，产生社会进步的火花。但是过大的贫富差
