graduates. As the last days and moments of biding farewell to
cherished memories of school life,friends,teachers and good time fast
approaching, many mixed feelings and emotions(releif,sadness and
excitement...)surfaced from within every heart of graduates....
Something triggered my thought and reminded me of this friendship
song entitled:
"Graduation( Friends Forever)".

何理解和翻译中国外交政策中“韬光养晦”的讨论，就是一个重要例子。
其实，“韬光养晦”这四个字历史上在哪个朝代，哪一本书中首先出现，古人是否
将其作为一种博弈谋略并不是今天的问题关键所在，现实问题的核心是以当年邓小平引
用这四个字的时代为背景，我们到底应该怎样理解其含义，又如何准确地把中国人的这
种品质翻译成外文。
有两个问题值得注意。一个是中国的文化是发展的，同一个词汇或成语使用的语境
是变化的，对这个成语的理解也必须跟上这种发展和变化，这方面例子很多。不论历史
上不同朝代的学者是怎么理解“韬光养晦”的，在上个世纪90年代初期，中国人讲“韬
光养晦”，其真实含意就是不当头，不扛旗，不称霸，低调行事。

北方话的两个主要缺陷都在这个表里反应出来了:
1. 没有真正的浊辅音: b, d, g 在普通话里都是次清 (不送气清音), 相当于英语的
sp, st, sk 里面 p,t,k 的发音. 所以模仿英文的时候必须降调. 例如 bbs 北方人读
作 避避癌司. 还有就是没有 z 只有 dz, 所以他们读 zoo 都是 dzoo , zealot 都是
dzealot.
2. 缺少很多单元音, 只能用双元音模拟. 例如 e, 用 ai 模拟. o 用 ao 模拟. bed
他们能说成 bide. 短元音i相当于吴语的入声ik, 北方只能用长元音 i: 模拟, 结果
if 变成了衣服.
我刚到美国的时候吓了一跳, 怎么北方人(包括云南之类的北方话地区)说英语是如此奇
怪呢? |

operator region (35 base), ribosome biding site (6 base), spacer sequence (
about 20 base) and the priming sequence (21 base) of my target gene. The
total lenth would be 100 base for this forward primer and the reverse primer
is just 30 base. Does anyone know if this primer set would be okay for PCR
amplifying my target gene (around 720bp)?

过去，而是大小亚基在其他蛋白的帮助下在ribosome biding site 上直接装配，

决，最近在解决的问题变成了如何处理实时的大数据量machine learning的问题，已经
部分解决的。Vowpal Wabbit 和 spark 算是这方面的努力。当然这是解决training的
速度问题。解决testing的速度问题目前还没太有人重视。我曾经利用search engine的
算法把一个传统的模型testing的速度提高了10倍，给CS的会议投稿，但这帮学术界的
评委只关系公式，对于效率的提高没有兴趣。这是工业界和学术界的差别。但是real
time biding一共最多就几百毫秒，qps经常是million级别的，不提高速度很多模型根
本没法用。training也得快，distribution随时在变，model变慢了，预测就差了，rtb
自然就赚不到钱了。所以模型系统的准确率和效率都非常重要。效率达不到，准确率就
没用了，或者会下降。 |
