一个朋友最近征求我的意见，觉得有一定的代表性，提出来看各位怎么对待这种鸡头凤
尾岗位的选择。
他有两个offer需要作出选择。一个是985学校的tenure-track 的研究员岗位，另外一
个是西部穷省的非211高校教授岗位，两个岗位的研究领域都是一样的，申请课题的难
易程度则后者占优（因为学校的领导是该领域权威）。
985高校的启动经费是200来万，平台好。另一个学校的启动经费和待遇等待朋友报价，
肯定比985的好不少。平台需要从无到有建设，不过据说将有大笔资金用于建设，属于
有钱没人干活那种。前者是个人独立经营实验室，各项制度都很规范，不容易出篓子。
后者除了经营自己的实验室之外，还需要协助系头带领一个讲师/副教授团队开展一个

爸骑着２８自行车，前面带着我，后面带着我哥。我哥手里拿着个巨大的充气游泳圈，
是用车间的塑料袋做的。结果游了几分钟，袋子跑了，我哥差点淹死。回来后我妈狠狠
的数落了我爸一顿。从此夏天再没去游泳。。。
八岁的时候，广播里永远播着今天最高气温39.5摄氏度，屋子里的电风扇总是转个不停
。小买店里新进了好多诱人的酒心巧克力，工地上躺着很多废铜烂铁。我和同伴在流了
很多口水之后，决定去捡废铁。第一次，到废品回收站一称，８分钱。第二次，冒着酷
暑狠狠的捡了一把，然后信心十足的抬到回收站，一称，还是８分钱。。。。。
十四岁的时候，空气中总是飘着汗味。晚自习的铃声一响，月光下就都是人头和声音。
一半人涌到厕所排队，一半人涌到洗手间排队。半小时之后，黑暗里刺耳的关铁栅栏的
声音，走廊里人跑的声音，很快又恢复了平静，只有孤独的路灯陪着孤独的月光。。。
十八岁的夏天很惬意。床头总摆满了书，图书馆里总坐满了人，宿舍楼下总站满了人，
傻傻的等着心爱的姑娘。。。

译出上一本书以后，由于暂时没有适合翻译的新书，我开始给自己放假：每
天坐在厨房的录音机旁，边听磁带边看电子书。三天前，随便拿出一盘《美国乡
村音乐系列情歌》（The best of country & western Vol.2），A面的第一首是
节奏轻快的《神龙帕夫》（Puff, the Magic Dragon）。这首歌我不知听过多少
次了，却从没有注意过歌词的内容。于是，我拿起磁带的歌片，看了看它的歌词。
然后，我被歌词的内容迷住了——我不能完全看懂它的象征意味，这反而让它显
得更加迷人。我想，这绝不是普通的流行歌曲，一定在西方或者说美英文化生活
中留下过印记。为了求证这一点，我必须上网。
我打开电脑，连上网络，在百度百科中发现了一篇谈论《神龙帕夫》的文章：
“‘有歌评这样说：这首歌主要是谈小孩子长大的过程，及对环境的感受。
歌词中的Puff实为一虚构的奇异龙，用此来影射孩子小时侯很喜欢小玩具，长大
后就把奇异龙甩掉，因为孩子已慢慢长大，对这种虚构的东西已不再有兴趣了’。

我记得，2011年她还会出现在哈佛的中国留学生派对上，那很少的一两个她充分信任的
朋友的派对，用化名，只停留一小会儿，不多说话。几个月后，她父亲正式上台，我们
再没看见她在任何公众聚会场合现身。2011年走在波士顿街头有时候可以撞见薄瓜瓜，
被一堆朋友簇拥着，总是外国朋友，总是在笑。他的性格开朗外向，颇受欢迎，然而他
会谨慎地只在外国同学中交朋友。关于2011年的波士顿，我还记得的一件事，就是徐小
平带着他的真格基金来哈佛搞创业比赛，几组选手花几分钟做个创业演讲，徐小平从中
选出自己满意的给天使投资。老实说，大部分选手是怀着玩票的心态去比赛，并没有正
儿八经地要创业。在那个充满古怪点子的的比赛上，我匆匆一面认识了一个哈佛商学院
的学生，叫陈郢，他刚刚在台上讲完自己的创业计划：做中国农村的货郎，把各类零售
商品带到贸易不便的中国农村去卖。他的演讲应该是很精彩的，因为他最后拿到了徐小
平的天使投资，可是我已经不太记得他的演讲内容了，记忆犹新的反而是，他做完演讲
