KC Huang, MIT理论凝聚态毕业，博后开始转生物，跟Princeton的Ned Wingreen做cell
shape,原来做纯计算的，现在自己的lab也开始做实验了.
Jan Skotheim,数学起家，MIT本科，剑桥博士，博后到Rockefeller跟两个cell cycle
的大牛Eric Siggia和Fred Cross.

补几个个人观点（难得搞定tor）
1. Oudenaarden在我心目中是个天才级人物。最近同一时期发表一篇cell和一篇
sicence。
其中science文章是从现象角度证明并量化一种假说 circadian gating的假说。其实就
是设计测量两种rhythm的相关性，并用物理量和模型（非常简单的模型，物理强调的是
简化问题，抓住问题核心）刻画这一相关性， Circadian gating of the cell cycle
revealed in single cyanobacterial cells
cellpaper给出这个假说背后的生物机制

说过去几年开创了math biology 这个领域，只能说他焕发了青春。我想这么说更贴切
一些。
我想再补充一下，也顺便应云彩，司马不光大哥/老弟的要求，在这里献丑推荐些文章
。我想再强调一点的是，这个领域涉及面很广，很多化工，物理方面专家也做出了很大
的贡献（向我么中国人自豪的庄晓薇，sunny xie 都做出了很不错的成绩），如果有
谁的老板，同事被我漏掉了，请恕我疏漏。也欢迎大家来讨论补充。
现在的sysBio 大概能归为两类：一类是应用微分方程或者离散随机过程帮助研究比较
细节化的生物过程。细化到细胞内的某种分子的数量。一般大家只做某个通路，试验结
果也都小规模的。这方面我还是觉得John Tyson的工作最为系统和成功。他用微分方程
模型完整地解释细胞周期的机制。如果你能读懂Nonlinear dynamics and chaos 前面4
章，看他的文章应该就没问题了。这些成果是他近20年研究的集成，我么可以思考一下
如何在此基础上更进一步。同时，现在synthetic b |

mathematical biology 大概是用数学和物理的原理来解释或模拟基本的生物现象，或
者说mathematical modelling in biology， 要用到很多微分方程的东西。 数学底子
嘛，跟数学出生的相比，当然是很薄弱的，自己课余时间学了点皮毛，像linear
algebra, ODE, a little bit of PDE, multivariable calculus, complex analysis,
MAPLE & MATLAB. 没有实际modelling的经验。
本来想找个这个方向的博后，发现人家都需要你有很强的数学背景。所以想读个应用数
学的master先，但是不知道这样可行性如何。 |

It's kind of like how ppl call their research Gene Therapy. A lot of ppl
claim they are doing system biology. But what exactly they do in the lab? It
could just be just proteomics, computational biology or genomics. |
