国的硕士，这个M.D 好像也是个假的，也就是说他好像没有在美国医学系统作完住院医
，拿执照，

To be fair, there have been threads of looking up NIH grant in the past,
this post doesn't bring much new info. Hopefully, you are not fighting
authorship like this with your boss...just kidding...
seriously, NIH grants are only part of funding source. NSF and other
government agencies (DOD, DOE, etc.) also provide funding for biomed.
Many professors have funding from private foundations (ACS, American Heart
Assoc, etc.) and private endorsement. It's very difficult to track. |

I have known a few doing that, but the language is a bigger barrier than
scientific and technology for native Chinese. The best route is to go to
law school after biomed PhD. |

The absolute number for 生物造假 sounds higher, but the percentage of total
biomed publications is probably consistent with other 造假 in other field. |

I don't think that this is norm in biomed field in U.S. I have certainly
seen it more in chemistry and other engineering fields in U.S. Maybe your
boss had some lousy students (who didn't truly deserve first author)
before you joined :) |

1)专业生物信息学杂志
bioinformatics
老牌杂志，不过现在文章质量堪忧，结果不可靠。从影响因子看起来也是这样，06年以
前是6左右，现在4点几。部分原因是受到PLOS COMPUT BIOL等杂志的竞争，更重要的原
因是bioinformatics研究分化比较厉害，许多做计算机算法、机器学习又不懂生物的人
灌水很多，基本套路是有什么热点生物问题，就套一个机器学习的方法。由于不懂生物
，无法做的细致深入，方法总有很大缺陷，影响了杂志的reputation。其实
bioinformatics作的好的人越来越多，很多人干湿结合，可以发其他更好的杂志了。
BMC bioinformatics
同上，质量好像还要差。bioinformatics和BMC bioinformatics似乎注重方法，但是正
如上所述，结果不太可靠。现在基本不看着两个杂志的文章了。

The recommendation letters for your application DO NOT have to be related to
your future research interests. In my experience of dealing with Phd
students in biomed fields, 99% of them have no idea what they plan to do.
Even if they think they do know, it's very likely to change anyway after
rotations. The most important aspects of recommendation letters are to show
committee:
1) how well you do comparing to your current peers.
2) your analytic and logical skills
