首先联邦政府文职雇员人数约为二百五十万， 军人为1百五十万，总共为四百一十万，
是1962年以来人数最少的。
美国州政府雇员约为四百五十万，其中两百多万为教师。
美国地方政府雇员为一千两百万，其中七百万为教师，五十万医护人员。
总共约两千一百万多，其中近十万是教师。
至于联邦政府退休pension, 现在基本都是1%，联邦警察可以是1.7%，但只能积攒二十
年，再多就1%了。其他可普通公司一样，401K 加 social security. 由于联邦政府工
作人员普遍偏低，退休收入低于同学历私人公司雇员。
州政府和local goverment雇员的待遇取决于当地政府的财政状况。有些富裕小镇政府
雇员待遇远高于联邦政府雇员，那也是人家愿意掏钱。
