CBR最近的pricing structure 有变，现在refer能拿到的折扣是$150。

关于存脐带血，我也做了一些工作，把我知道的信息跟大家分享一下吧：
现在大家主要存的是脐带血，这个只能用于以后相关的血液疾病。由于脐带血的量很少
，就现在的科技而言，它的量只够用在小于4岁的孩子。
由于这个原因，我之前在由于要不要就把脐带血捐给public cord banking. 两个原因
让我最终没有选择public banking: 1) 签了合同以后，你对cord blood的使用就没有
任何控制权了。如果量不够，他们会被送去实验室，如果量够又合条件，cord blood就
会被加到registry list, 任何有需要的人都可以access （我之前以为只有捐过的人才

子存了。 他之所以选CBR是因为目前所有的cord blood bank都是private，but CBR is
associated with Arizona University. And Arizona has no Tornado, no
earthquake etc. Arizona确实是没有什么自然灾害地---这个我很清楚。
我32周时，我和OB谈了cord blood。 结果我OB和我说不急，说他有CBR的collection
kit，到时决定了也来得及。我就回头和CBR说，我再找找了别家的看看，但是心里还是
想存CBR的，觉得要不就从了CBR的$1845。结果34周多的时候，CBR又打电话给我说，我
们公司
最晚是35周就要决定的，你现在已经是35周了blah blah，我说你的再给我看看还有没
有discount，结果agent又给了我discount，就这样，给了我$1745， 和$3465的价格。 |

上周做了第一次产检，小家伙9周多一点，做了B超。然后抽了血，我看那个单子，估计
是做了“first trimester screening Blood Test”（因为这个项目显示大概时间是10
-14周），主要目的是“assess risk of Down's Syndrome and Trisomy 18 as well
as heart defects”。检查结果还没出来。
医生完了之后问我们要不要做“second trimester screening Blood Test”，主要目
的是“assess risk of Down's Syndrome, Trisomy 18, neural tube defects and
abnominal wall defeats”.
下次产检是一个月以后，因为他们不确定这个项目我的student health insurance是否
cover,今天特地问了一下保险公司，他们说不cover genetic testing for maternity.

antibody (MMR and Varicella) check.
yes, as shown above.
No. only MMR, varicella, and TD; plus flu if during fall/winter.
TD antibody cannot be checked through blood test, so you need to either show
you had got it within 10 years, or just get TD vaccination. |

needs X-ray result, and no place to fill in the blood test result. I know
blood test is accurate. I do not check with my civil surgeon yet. I do not

疲软的可以，想不到能在07-08年之交欣赏到若干部彪悍扎实的作品。
看开头那一段时突然让我想到了电影《老井》，同样的苍凉与悲怆，找水换成了找油，
张艺谋饰演的孙旺泉换成了Daniel Day-Lewis饰演的Daniel Plainview。但也看出了东
西方文化的差异——同样是挖井的故事，老井挖出了中国人的历史包袱、家庭伦理、更
挖出了希望；但there will be blood挖出来的，是愤怒、欺诈、是人的贪婪与抱负。
（题外话：虽然整部电影里我都很享受这种西方的丛林哲学带来的戏剧冲突，我还是有
点暗暗怀念东方文化中的温和收敛。其实真正的中国味道应该是像老井这样，浑厚质朴
的外表、东方价值观的立意；而不是用旧上海殖民地的麻将和十里洋场包装出一个特务
头子用阳具降服女刺客的故事，竟然还冠以“人性”和“回归之作”——“中国味”绝
不应该是隐藏在“儒雅”外表下的龌龊，而恰恰应该是相反。）

另外，我想测的是RNA aptamer在blood里的half life，用plasma靠谱吗？就是
说里面RNAse够多吗？
再另外，有人用plasma不加phenol/ethanol直接做过RT吗？我把plasma dilute
50X后加1ul到20ul RT reaction里，用qPCR定量，跟positive control差不多。
还试了多往RT reaction里加plasma，也没影响@@也不知道是否正常呵呵

BLOOD就象JVI，JI，MCB这种学会杂志，除了搞血液的，还有很少搞免疫的看看，观众
比较少。其实搞免疫的都少看，免疫的老板也很少去开血液病的会。不同行业差别还是
挺大的。
如果你要考虑一辈子就在血液学里面混，两个可能没啥区别。但是人生难料，要是你以
后不在这个领域混，那PNAS就重要了。
另外你怎么知道BLOOD不灌水？其实这种学会杂志灌水的更多，都是这种学会的“组织者”“领导”灌水的地方，这些人还不如学部委员。

she's almost on the border line to pre-hypertension. So I would definitely
recommend to start with lifestyle modifications: moderate amount of exercise
(walking, swimming), cut down on daily salt intake (less than 2.4 grams of
sodium per day).
If consistent lifestyle modifications don't bring down her blood pressure
too much, then drug therapy comes next, and it'll be her doctor's choice to
