c=a+2b+ab
http://www.bls.gov/schedule/archives/cpi_nr.htm#2005
(198.8-193.3)/193.3 = 2.845% -> 2.85%
http://www.publicdebt.treas.gov/sav/sbirate2.htm
Here's how we set the composite rate for I bonds issued Nov 2005 - Apr. 2006:

我的个人分析
考虑到现在利率很低,而且政府大量发行债券,那么中长期看,股市和经济恢复,给债

短期看,除非股市大跌,否则债券基金升值的空间也不大。

The economic downturn has some investors considering safe Treasury-bond

But those seeking to avoid the risk of bond defaults by turning to Treasury

you are correct about buying high yield treasury when inflation spikes, but
let's run some numbers comparing putting your money into munis versus saving

years to maturity = 5 (terms = 10)
coupon = 200 (i.e. 10,000 * 4% / 2 )

what "bond" do you refer to?
if you refer to the credit markets -- commercial papers/corporate bonds/MBS/
high-yield bonds, the return is determined by both risk-free interest rate (
i.e. Treasury etc) and credit spread (i.e, chance of default /bankrupcy).
During the crisis last year, credit spread widened dramatically -- some part
of the credit market literally forzen in the mid of the panic.
While, the tide turned and credit spread narrows this year (so far).

That's correct. But it doesn't explain why gold is going in the same
direction. High inflation/inflation expectation will push bond/stock price
down while the gold price rises.
Last time when that happened, the economy is entering double-dip recession
in late 1982. The gold traders thought the inflation will come back up by
the FED's easing to fight the recession. The equity and bond holders
believed that Volker will stand firm. The equity and bond market traders

Yes. And it could happen again. After all, 20 years into their crisis, and
with gross government debt heading for 200% of GDP, Japanese bonds yield
just 1.3%. So ten-year treasury bond yields of 3.5% may be reasonable after
all.
The question is still, would the future be inflationary or deflationary?
Government bonds work great in a deflationary world.

When more people want to jump into the bond fund, the result is that bond

But Fed will have no choice. They still have to sell $80 billions bonds each
week for the fiscal stimulus plan. Image how much more interest they will
have to pay for the new debt. I believe that Fed will do something to ensure
that stability of the bond market. If 10 year treasury spikes to 4.5% and

How do you get "相对而言bond收益率很高"?
Bond yield should be consistent to the interest rate, which is very low now.
Corporate bonds have relatively higher yield due to higher risks. If you

There's no "true value" of the bond since a bond value consists not only the future cash flow, but also the forward interest rates you use to discount these cashflows, interest rate volatilities, and liquidity premium, credit risk, all have to be assumed in order to come up with the "right" price for the bond. It's not easier than guessing a stock's future earning potentials.

No, discount muni bonds are more attractive because you will avoid losing
money if the issuer call back earlier than maturity. Most bonds have call
protection if less than 10 years from new issue, but under some conditions
some bonds can still partial call. It will count as capital gain if you hold
