What I do not understand is BSJF turnover ratio is 61% according to
morningstar. I would imagine a held-to-maturity portfolio turnover ratio be
very low.
Another issue I have is if something bad hit in the middle of 2015, BSJF
still need to sell its portfolio MtM, rather than holding onto the defaulted
bonds waiting for recovery.

Portfolio Construction is different.
BSJF BulletShares High Yield Corporate Bond 2015 Index is designed to
represent the performance of a held-to-maturity portfolio of U.S.-dollar-
denominated high-yield corporate bonds with effective maturities in 2015.
The fund will terminate on Dec. 31, 2015, and will make a cash distribution
to current shareholders of its net assets. As bonds mature in the final six
months of operation, the fund's portfolio will transition maturing
securities to cash.

Agreed, money market is the best fit for LZ's described situation.
If you don't need the liquidity before end of 2015, but might need shortly
after 2015, BSJF GUGGENHEIM BULLETSHARES 2015 HIGH YIELD
CORPORATE BOND is a great choice.

My 401k chose MXLMX multi sector bond fund, the same as LSBDX or similar to
PONAX if your 401k has it.
For brokerage account, in additional to the individual bond which I
recommend in the bond club, especially for tax free insured muni bonds in
your taxable account which have another protection for default risks:

No, individual bonds are different with bond fund or ETF, please see bond
club to buy and sell individual tax free muni bond and taxable corporate or
muni/BAB bond.
http://www.mitbbs.com/club_bbsdoc/Bond.html
I can only recommemd corporate bonds which you can buy any time at Fidelity:
CUSIP 18683KAB7, a CLF bond coupon 4.8%, ask price $97.22, yield 5.32% till
10/1/2020 w/o call risk.
CUSIP 74348YAS0 (PSEC, coupon 5.85%) can offer you short term 4% yield to 9/

No, you should buy taxable municipal or corporate bonds in IRA. Tax-free
muni bonds should in taxable account, not IRA.
Please ask questions in bond club for details, especially for individual
bonds.

For IRA, taxable muni and high yield funds are OK. But now the timing is not
as good as last Dec when the interest rate was much higher. Many of them
went up 10% YTD. I recommend you buy taxable individual bonds instead or
wait for the dip to put the mone... 阅读全帖

Based on your tax bracket. If your fedreal tax rate is 28% or above,
individual municipal bonds. If you like taxable muni in your IRA account,
BAB, BBN. High yield muni, HYD and Guggenheim BulletShrs series with target
mature year.
