Be calm, :) why not listen to others' points and look at
us in more aspects and more objectively.
A lot of guys say bad thing to PKU, but PKU is still
PKU.
We love bupt but we also know bupt was "cong3" too much.
Bupt' student can do very well in practical job, but
bupt's academic level is really in the low level of 2nd
tier. BUPT has outer fame only in little area: CDMA and
Key lab, optical fiber ( several years ago.)
We are too much focused on practical projects but not
on research. It's true |

are in the field of EE, CS or computer related works.
Anyway, we just talk what we want to talk.
Like, i can recommend you to visit BUPT homepage,
there are some articles of the head: Lin Jintong,
quite humorous.
But i think besides well-written articles, some
concrete things should be done, especially in
leading BUPT to a school with a good fame in
academics.
I believe BUPT is more a politics school rather
than an academic school by now! |

BUPT以前不对外直接招生，因为无线电和通信是敏感专业，80年代初往往是某省的特殊
竞赛的获奖者被要求读该校...并且增加一些普通名额
完全开放以后BUPT的生源average水准从来就没有差过，呵呵，LZ和看客还是实在一点
的批评
我觉得反思很多，reference check是double的问题了，唐骏的墙倒众人推不也说明了
这么多海外学子在美国也没有把美国的教育制度和方式完全介绍回中国释惑的，个人都
自勉，对唐的苛责还不如转移到对自己的要求和制度的建设性建议上 |

I don't know if you still in opt.comm. but as I know,
BUPT's fame is build up on the basis of previous
coherent opt. comm. But now, bupt does not have a
big voice in most updated domain in this area, one
reason is BUPT can not afford a really complicated
system, another reason is fewer and fewer researcher..
and maybe another reason is forcus is deviated from
research. |

(IEEE INteligent Network Workshop 2002) that is sponsored by ComSoc and will
be held in the ``High-Tech Mansion BUPT'' in Oct 7-9. It is said that the
"mansion" is a just finished new hotel on BUPT campus. Is this the expension
on the old "foreign expert building" or something totally new? It also
mentions that BUPT "might be the best university on communications
engineering in China".

我么?偶在本文里不过是转述了一些BUPTers在水母教育板
上的高论而已,那是2000.4的事了,如果这(BUPTERS把BUPT称为中国
的MIT)也叫恶意攻击的话,那只能说是BUPTers喜欢做自我批评
,和偶是什么关系都没有的.
偶不过是把UESTCer和BUPTer做比较而已.
偶转那篇文章到bupt的目的就是不想让别人以为我在背后说人坏话!

bupt graduates maybe 200 students in telecomm.
while pku only produces 20 students go to work. others go abroad,
go to get a master, of which only maybe 10 every year go to telecomm.
Considering that bupt has more high level people in telecomm and
get promoted faster than pku ee, no wonder pku ee get very low
voice for themselves. pku also has a big enemy thu, so that it's very hard
for them to survive in the conflicts.

看了这篇东东，真得很是心酸，本不想在这里做酸葡萄状，但那心理真是贴帖
的很，想也许可以和大家讨论讨论。前一阵在新浪上看刘若英＜一个人的KTV＞，
那个演艺界难得的有才的女子，说：“自己心里也急，可等待是一门艺术”，如她
这样风光的人物况且如此，我等平凡小女子又能如何？！又去看那个叫“兰珍珍”
的，经历过那么多痛苦，从文字上看是事业成功心态成熟平和的了，让我颇为佩
服，可一看她的照片，那样的干涩无神...以同为女姓的理解，我感觉她心中定是
不快乐和不幸福的，也许优秀的女子总是难逃这一劫！

I saw an artical in Nanking Univesity BBS.
There is a list of universities in China. BUPT not on it.
Tsinghua is no.1 in the universities classified as Engineering Type
Nanking university is no.1 in the those classified as Comprehansive Type.
Beijing University is no.2 after Nanking university.
I do not believe. Does Nanda have Wu Dayou, Wu jianxiong, Li Zhengdao,
Hu Shi, Cai Yunpei, Chen Duxu.... Did Nanda do something like 5.4.

Hehe, that depend how to define a good univ.
in fact due to our govnment's decision, many univ
set up in 50's, is focus on some very narrow domain.
for example, UESTC (Chengdu) is on electronics, BUPT
is on communication. SO if viewed from overall "shi2 li4"
these univ surely can't be matched with the more
comprehensive univ. You see BUPT enroll less than 1000
students per year, they have only several Dep.s. How can
it compare with other school such as Nanjing Univ.?

I am in Level 3 now. Anyway, all the level 12 people are
moving to level 1&2 (downstairs) shortly. The Level 12 is
going to be emptied as a captive and training base. An
overall location move is also scheduled at the end of this
year. As well sometime in the future, BUPT-Nortel may change
its name to XX Co., claiming itself as a legal company
independent from BUPT and Nortel Networks. I really can't
imagine how it's gonna make it then.
Earn the money and spend it in Europe for holiday!!! It's

recently saw some BUPT-Nortel ppl coming to CA, like Xiao Hui and GSL. other
folks may be sticking with his phd, say xiao pang :))
good luck for u pals all. BUPT should be merged somewhere, maybe that's the
best way out.
en... money is not a big problem, but the visa is really boring. proud to
be a Chinese, not so proud of our government. |

no, the 1st campus net is set up by comp center using ethernet, and host
a high speed connection to NCICnet. CSCO at that time is not so famous,
but it did have field office at Beijing and its first manager graduated
from BUPT, so BUPT got some donation from Cisco China. As i was then so
fascinated by networking tech, i got know more than any other unders, also
that's probably why i continue my education, and career as a networker. |
