完全没有道理capital gain的税率比salary还低。减不减税是一回事，但是capital
gain的税率一定要比salary的税率高，这才是公正的做法。同时，3%以下的capital
gain可以不用交税，这是考虑了通货膨胀的因素，保持人们投资的意愿。高出3%的部分
交重税。也就是说，you keep what you earned。
但是问题是资本流动全球化，使得我们没有可能进行这种改革的可能。全球化使美国失
去了税收改革的主权。华尔街为什么喜欢全球化？因为在全球化当中，所有的国家都在

On the Form 1040 2008 Instructions for Schedule D:
A capital asset is any property held by you except the following:
Certain commodities derivative financial instruments held by a dealer. See
section 1221(a)(6).
我不知道外汇保证金交易算不算这种不能报Capital loss的衍生品，在IRS的网站上也
找不到section 1221(a)(6).
所以打电话给IRS想请教一下，结果几个白痴CSR把我转来转去，折腾了好几个小时也没
得到结果，气死我了！
请教版上的大侠和前辈：
1.哪里能找到这个section 1221(a)(6)？ Pub 550 和Pub 544我都看过了，似乎没有。
2.有做过外汇保证金的前辈能确认一下，这种交易能报Capital loss么？

去年12月份拿到了Capital One 2015 暑期实习的电面，然后这周一去了VA参加他们的
onsite。之前在准备面试的时候在mitbbs上找到很多有用的信息，所以面完后来此汇报
一下面经，希望对其他同学有帮助。
面试一共有四轮，从早晨八点到中午十二点，然后公司派人一起吃午饭，不过午饭不算
入面试。面试包括两轮的case interview,一轮role play还有一轮behavioral
question。其中role play是比较经典的飞机是否晚点的模型汇报，在jobhunting版精
华区前人已有很详细的总结。我个人的感觉是因为在假定的情景里之前的work是同事做
的，所以一方面可以说一下模型中的问题（其实问题挺多的），另一方面可以讲讲工作
的意义，最后跟对方请求更多时间来improve这个模型。

term gain和short term loss可以相互抵消，每年可以报3000的loss。可是IRS上关于
“Capital Gains and Losses”的topic竟然只说long term gain和short term loss可
以抵消，而没有提其他的。这真的把我搞糊涂了。
IRS的文章http://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc409.html: " The term "net capital gain" means the amount by which your net long–term capital gain for the year is more than your net short–term capital loss."
大家知道究竟是怎么算的吗？或者哪里有权威的解释？

如果 2011年 Capital loss 为 10K，那么我可以用其中的 3k 去deduct income，然后
剩下 7K Carry over到 2012 年
而如果2012年有 Capital Gain 5k， 先 offset 那个capital gain， 剩下的7k- 5k =
2k可以再deduct income。
如果2012年没有Capital Gain， 那只能用 3K 去deduct income， 后剩下的4K 再
Carry over到 2013 年.
请教高手解答一下，我的理解对不对。谢谢了 |

美国的税收系统太变态了，搞得我一头雾水。
long term capital gain的规定是：
2013年的税率是 15% （当你的bracket在39.6%以下），或20% (当bracket是39.6%），
加上3.8%的surcharge。我查了一下39.6%bracket的下限是45万 for couple。
如果这样一种情况：只有加上long term capital gain才超过45万，这时候怎么收税？
一个极端例子：如果其他收入是40万，long term capital gain是5万零1元，这样总收
入超过了45万，long term 税率是20%。问题是如果对这5万元都按20%收税，还是只对
这多出的一元收20%，其他15%?
显然是后者合理，但我查了网上，没有详细解释。

请问这是如何得出的呢？CA-CL是working capital，但是CA和CL同时都增加了呀。
还有，书上说current ratio也降低，这个是不是因为Current asset/ current liabil
ity，由于capital lease既导致asset增加，也导致liability增加，所以current rati
o总体是降低了？？？ |
