if I remember correctly, cat6k is the only product line that generate 2B

both internal cisco and external
macro env.
1. cisco switch positioning has been a mess in last couple of years. Nexus
series vs Catalyst 6K and 4K.
overlapping and competing each other. N7K becomes upgrade path for
traditional C6k dominant DC. It
gains traction. However, N7K pricing/performance ratio is low compared C6k.
C6k has bigger fat margin. So

cat6k. the 1st one is flat data center switch, the 2nd one is the
traditional campus switch.
but be frank, i am not very clear about the difference of these 2
different product catergories. just know the 3-tier of network
architecture is not a good fit for today data center, now they like to
implmented flat and low latency topology.

，CSCO 传统的Catalyst Switch方面大概丢了250M，其中157M到了自己Nexus上面，另

Lower margin was mostly because hp/jnpr bring low priced switch and put a
lot of price pressure onto csco cat2k/3k. |

I just did some thing very similar to what you described several
weeks ago on cat6500. I did stateless firewall failover with
symmetric routing w/ eBGP. Firewall stateless because we do not want
to have layer 2 adjacency for the two firewalls in two geographically
separated locations.

ACE on an IOS-XE based box, but the performance will suck. |

都支持multicast的。Cat6k目前还不支持。不清楚Nexus7K支持吗？所以如果multicast
很重要的话用户可能还不得不选择OTV。
L2TPv3 or GRE没有native multicast support吧。

especially in big organizations, and not everybody follows NANOG (I am not
saying they should not, they should monitor each device syslog though). I
clearly remember Internet full table was around
300K a little over two years ago, who would expect Internet table grows so
quickly.
(It is a bad implementation choice for Cat6K that CPU can be in forwarding
