利那岛海事研究所说，这是一生难见的重大发现。
这条长达18英尺的皇带鱼，要16个大人才能举起来。卡塔利那岛海事研究所所长查
斯(Jeff Chace)说，看到这条鱼时，他感到十分惊讶，这是一生难见的重大发现。
一名游泳教练13日在卡塔利那岛(Catalina Island)的托阳湾(Toyon Bay)潜水时，
发现了这条已死的皇带鱼，当时她的潜水深度大约15到20英尺。
皇带鱼一般都栖息在深海中，能够在海岸边发现皇带鱼十分罕见。
根据海事研究所有关资料，皇带鱼是全世界最长的多骨鱼类，最长的皇带鱼可以达
到56英尺(约17.1米)。
在东南亚也曾经发现过超长的皇带鱼，甚至还有许多当地居民将皇带鱼视为是龙的
化身。
查斯表示，鱼身上并没有任何记号，也不清楚鱼的死因为何。由于这条皇带鱼太长
，没有地方可以放置。查斯说，海事研究所目前计划将鱼尸埋在沙中，让其自然腐化，
留下骨骼保存。 |
