前几天把popcorn ceiling给test了一下，报告付上，也让大家看看这石棉报告长什么
样。
我家就是popcorn屋顶，几年前买房子的时候，根本不知道popcorn ceiling里可能有石
棉这么回事。也就最近两三年才知道，上网研究的结果也是五花八门，有的说很有害，
有的说没事。有的说老房子都有，有的说并不是所有老房子都有。
以前看我家屋顶，发现明显是喷过漆的，所以倒也没太当回事，即使有石棉也都seal住
了不是。可这几年，屋里屋外进行了好几个大大小小的项目，又新买了一些家具。这工
具家具搬进搬出的，还是真把屋顶的几处给蹭掉了，不仔细看，倒是看不出来。最近新
添了个baby，健康安全意识也上了个台阶，越看那些破损的popcorn ceiling越范疑心
。不管将来是重新刷漆还是彻底清楚，这去除疑心的第一步就是先看看里面到底有没有
石棉。

面需要caulking一下。洗衣房如果是tile的话，有可能有缝隙。
其实找contractor也未必能得出准确结论，除非打开ceiling看看。 |

基本的还要买什么东西? [2] 还有就是这7个Speaker都是一样的,还是有一个是特殊的?
主要是找人装太贵了, 想学学大家自己动手慢慢攒.

我们住在University family housing 的apartment。几个月前厨房的水龙头忘记关了
，然后就淹了厨房，水一直渗透到楼下。结果是楼下replace 了大约13x16feet 的
ceiling. 当时我们就很着急，一直去office询问报价，但是那个general manager 说
不知道，只是叫了人来修。修了大概6个上午，然后就杳无音信了。今天 突然收到帐单
说要我们付$6600.我们都傻眼了，不知道该怎么办。
以下是我们自己总结出来的觉得不合理的地方：
1、他们从来没有问过我们的意见，自己就找了contractor，也不事先估价。我们一直
问，他们就说不知道。问过这边的朋友，说一般先找几个contractor估价，然后选一个

(including plywood sheathing). The contractor broke the ceiling in my master
bedroom. I saw how he repaired it. Basically, you need to take down the whole
4x8 drywall off and replace it with a new one. You need to use drywall screw
to screw the drywall on the wood frame, then use some drywall tape to seal,

1,不够energy efficient,一大块用不着的空间也得冬天加热夏天冷却,浪费能源.
2,换灯泡或者ceiling fan很麻烦,另外上面那层窗户打理起来也很麻烦
3,不够privacy,一层有点动静,楼上受干扰太大,特别是早晨晚上的时候,房子里很安静,
谁在一层做点什么楼上的人都睡不好.
4,如果厨房的排油烟系统不够好,油烟很快能弥漫到楼上

50年代到80年代（7几年以后尽管是不允许用了，但存货还是在被使用，一直用到85年）
其实买85年之前的房子，石棉的存在是不可避免的，加到texture ceiling里只是建筑
过程中成千种石棉用途中的一个。
这玩意也不是什么大事，但问题就是人们都被吓怕了 - 影响resell. |
