just between u and me, i just went to the best concert in my life.
it was a cellist just recovered from life-threatening disease at
our hospital and
he gave this informal performance to give thanks. i was 5 feet away
from him. I couldn't breathe when he played. i always call myself a music
lover but now I know i had always been deaf. i couldn't have imagined
that you can put so much into a piece of music. the heaviness cripples me.

但今天看新闻，有昨天负责伴奏的美海军陆战队乐团发言人接受采访时说，其实比昂丝
在昨天的总统上任演出时，没有用现场的乐团，他们当时没有给比昂丝伴奏。比昂丝用
的是自己事先录好的录音，也就是现场比昂丝只是动动嘴唇，lip-sync,不是真唱。详

早年听过杜普蕾(Jacqueline du Pre，1945-87)在EMI留下的德沃夏克[1]，虽然觉得
相当不错，然而被后来各种媒体炒作的像是一个所谓的“顶尖之作”之后，就无兴趣关心
了。加上对那种说不清道不明的“综合悲哀症”[2]的感冒，总觉得在此之上就是脱溢出
了爱乐范畴而成了一种时髦的形式了。现在想来鄙人对杜普蕾的关心还是来自于英国著名
音乐评论家马格里特·坎贝尔(MARGARET CAMPBELL)的名著[THE GREAT CELLISTS] [3]一
书中有关章节之后的事情了。……没有什么能够比由于伤病而不得退出演出舞台更加令人
痛苦的了。1973年左右28岁的时候，由于综合性硬化症(MS.)而不得不退出舞台的。我不

我倒没打算跟他混熟/现在觉得拉大提的人太了不得了/我只有
敬畏/广而言之/我对所有为艺术而承受苦难的人都只有敬畏
和感激/终于切身的感受到为什么柴可夫斯基写悲怆的时候
会流泪到不能自已/为什么艺术家都较早就死去
他们对生命的感受太深重/早早就会把自己烧完
现在真觉得原来的音乐都白听了/博物馆也白去了
好些作品应该听了看了以后或喜或悲/激动万分/很久之内
都不能再听看别的东西的/不过我要真这样的话
恐怕也活不长了 |

重要的是你是否得到了作曲家和演奏家想给你的东西
我今天读到演奏家演奏时很重要的一个技巧是要控制自己
不能太EMOTIONAL否则影响他的表达
我不知道他今天演奏是什么状态/生命失而复得/
很难做到不EMOTIONAL吧
无论如何/我听到了作曲家的声音/
也听到了他附加在那之上的他自己的声音
可以说音乐第一次向我打开大门
除此以外/别的都不重要吧 |

麻油油的RP也有问题吗？这个我倒不太了解，不应该影响音乐的欣赏吧。就象当年Du
Pre也是一塌糊涂，生命的最后众叛亲离，但她始终是我最饭的Cellist，我有她所有的
出版过的CD。这里说点题外话，虽然Jacqueline的姐姐和弟弟写的书（后被拍成电影
Hilary and Jackie）招来很多粉丝的攻击，但我倾向于认为那些爆料基本属实，也符
合逻辑。其实最有力的旁证是她LG Barenboim 并没有否认过那些事实，只是非常生气
，Why can't they wait until I'm dead?
回到狼狼和油油，可以说狼狼现在走的完全是麻油的路线，就是追求知名度的最大化，
和商业的成功化。虽说这多半是由所属的唱片公司决定的包装路线，但只能说这也是他
们自己的追求。所以他们是频频出席政治场合和商业活动，尽管音乐技巧很成熟，很多
纯粹的音乐爱好者会认为他们Empty，因为音乐完全成为他们追名逐利的工具了。我还
记得从前WSJ好像有过一篇文章，关于狼狼的，用过circus-like hucksterism 这样的
词。

Jeff Buckley的死令人惋惜，不仅是因为年轻（30岁），还因为他的音乐事业
当时正在刚刚起步。93年他终于和Columbia签约，出了第一张专辑Grace。97年
三十岁上淹死的时候正在准备录第二张My Sweetheart the Drunk。这之前基本

话说violinists are prima donnas，脾气都不好。脾气好，人缘好的都是cellists
I don't play violin, just enjoy listening to it. As a kid, I practiced vocal
and electronic piano for a while. I prefer violin to piano because
violinists can integrate more emotion and body language when interpreting
the music.
Maybe whoever become my kid(s) will learn how to play violin, and surely
vocal. |

不过乐队里面，需要的小提琴手多些，chamber music里面经常看见几把小提琴，只有
一个大提琴，呵呵……
交响乐队也是，violinists一大堆，cellists寥寥无几……
大提琴是我favorite呀，坐那里就很凝神端庄优雅，提起琴盒走也很炫。
大家的小朋友们学就更好了，各乐团最缺的就是大提琴。
小提琴一般不缺的，我小时候家里也买过小提琴，但是学过大提琴的几乎不认识。 |
