childhood ed, educational technologies, assessment and testing 等等.
K-12 education通常薪水低，workload很大。美国社会通常孩子学不好就指责老师没教
好，学校没管好，所以public education向来都是群众的靶子，一有spending cuts,教
育就首当其冲。不过某些学科还是不错的，比如加州现在就缺教algebra老师，准备要
向州外或国外引进qualified teachers for higher level math courses
special ed 这一块是雷打不动的联邦资助的program,目前看来资金还比较充足，我们
部门有些同事今年都纷纷跳到特教部门去了，就是看到哪儿还挺稳定的。就是有时候出
去做auditing,看到那些孩子们觉得很可怜，看多了心里难受。

我孩子不到三岁，15个月因为发育滞后开始接受EI治疗，18个月时EI机构严重怀疑自闭
，排队几个月后21个月在美国top5的权威儿童医院拿到经典自闭的诊断之后一直接受强
度很大的各种训练。。我不常来逛这个坛子，因为我家孩子让我担心的地方，和这里家
长们通常讨论的东西，根本搭不上边。。大家在讨论怎么推娃，上什么兴趣班的时候，
我担忧的是怎么以后能够让娃生活自理，自立而不拖累这个社会，怎么学会和人交流（
说话都是其次的），奢侈点的想法是，怎么主流化，怎么能够自己有一个somewhat
meaningful的生活，父母离开人世的时候，也能让孩子可以有尊严的活着。我们这样家
庭的种种challenge，不是常人能够理解的，我也从没有奢望过普通父母能体会我们的
痛苦。。。但是看到了最近的热贴，有些id对我们这些可怜的家庭们的各种不太善意的
猜测，非常震惊。当然，也同时看到很多general ed， gifted ed的家长们的同情和爱
心，和让人温暖感动的话，在这里也想替我们这些家庭，谢谢你们的支持。

朋友在国内生孩子，有黄疸，医生让多喂水排尿排黄疸。
我一听就怒了，这不是庸医么。
黄疸是破碎的血细胞中的血红素被转换成胆红素没有及时排出体外在体液中富集，使得
皮肤显出黄色。
胆红素刚生成的时候是非结合型胆红素不溶于水，主要通过粪便排出。
非结合型胆红素在肝脏中转化成结合型胆红素才溶于水变成尿胆素从肾脏排出。
新生儿的肝脏发育不全，没法转化那么多胆红素到尿中。就是要多吃奶多排便才能排出
非结合型胆红素。
我家儿子刚出生有黄疸。猛吃了几顿奶，还加了配方奶。医院让全天照紫外灯，我们假
模假式照了半个小时就抱回crib了。第二天就好了
美国医生一般不让给婴儿喝水，一是怕增加肾脏负担，二是水会占胃的体积，减少奶量
，营养摄入就少了

therapist是不是比较便宜，学生随时都可以去吧。我记得有研究说过，成功的父母和
他们童年时期的幸福与否没有直接关系，有直接关系的是他们是否 made peace with
their childhood past。如果你的职业是教育有关的，那一定要把这方面疏通好，不然
今后会很stressful，因为会有很多你认为失职的家长、老师在你眼前晃的。我就有过
这样的体验。后来发现，其实很多孩子是有resilience的。不行还有心理学家。要不他
们就都失业了。而且有很多精神、心理专业的人都是因为个人的受伤的经历，才被这个

我家BB上过的几个daycare,都差不多,主要是BB挺适应环境,但是相对最好的那个
daycare,每个班lead teacher一定是early childhood本科毕业和有幼师一个什么
certified执照之类,一年3次field trip,平时每周到daycare附近playground有picnic
什么的,尤其是summer,会安排去游泳啊,活动多很多.现在两娃上的两个daycare,
handbook说得很清楚,都没有这些活动,很多老师不是early childhood毕业,貌似转行的
,但居然是这个小城市最好的两个daycare了, |
