the date format in Chinese. But it seems that X does not support the locale,

I ran rxvt as well, I pressed ctrl+space and nothing happened. I tried
ps -axw | grep chinput
and seems that chinput is not running. I tried to lauch chinput manually,
and it reports:

launch chinput first, this shouldn't happen.
this looks like resource.
I believe you didn't add the resources. there should be a resource file
like Chinput.ad in the distribution. type
xrdb -load Chinput.ad before you do everything.
I think LC_anythingelse can be omitted as you use LC_ALL |

In FreeBSD, I use
setenv LC_CTYPE zh_CN.EUC.
Check your /usr/share/locale first to see whether you have it (it should
be installed in default).
setenv LANG zh_CN.EUC.
now type "date" to see whether it outputs garbage.
if it is, then your environment is correct.

我来英国六年, 其中读书三年, 工作两年半. 对英国的社
会和经济的发展略有了解. 英国是一个发展的非常完善
的社会, 社会各方面都发展得相当好, 到了一定的水平.
现在英国的经济构成, 主要是以智力经济和服务业为主,
相对而言工业和制造业已经不很多了. 英国现在主要的
问题, 包括科研和生产方面, 就是发展得太完善, 使得智
力无所以投, 在工业, 生产, 科研和管理各方面上缺乏可
以研究的课题和对象.
然而, 在中国, 情况却完全不同. 中国社会比英国社会落
后50-100年, 各方面的问题重重, 中国本国人才又缺乏解
决这些实际问题的能力和手段. 象上面所说的tian池蓝藻
问题和野生动植物资源的开发问题, 中国本事缺乏解决
这些问题的人才和能力. 我这样说并非是看不起国 |

and they really struggled couple of times during those.
btw i can't recall the officiating situation back then,
but this season probably the hca and the officiation associated
with it reduced the suspension for each game--to make many wins
come too early. |

you need to edit whatever character set in pine setups. I use iso-8859-1.
pine->setup->config->character set.
why not telnet. or you can install chinput or xcingb. |

有次去BluePoint玩，HahaLee给我看了他在FreeBSD下make的
CXwin扩展的BluePoint XFree3.3.6，可以在xterm下显示中文，
这个版本就是BP的双响炮里的那个FreeBSD，但并不带有中文输入
因为他觉得在BSD下没必要输入，可以看就可以了；）
之后的尝试就是我自己玩了，因为我希望可以进行输入；）
因为BSD的Linux兼容可以运行Linux的二进制文件，所有我就把
BP里的输入方法套了进来，方法很简单：
先在BSD里把双响炮随盘的BSD部分的XFREE336 pkg安装上，
然后将1.0版BluePoint Linux的CXWintools和字体的RPM解开，
分目录拷贝到BSD下X的相关目录，运行X之后启动chinput，
如果一切顺利输入条将出现在X的桌面上，你就可以使用输入法了，
虽然这个输入方法不如BP2.0里所带的新工具，但足够你在BSD里
既可以看中文也可以输入中文，而且你拥有BIG5和GB两套系统，
反正我自己是很happy的说，因为不用cxwin了，而且字体也很不错
还可以用中文的KDE |

reboot your linux box.
your system should have an english environment, and ctrl+space should invoke
chinput. with terminal emulation windows or gaim windows, rightclick and
choose "X Input Method" first. |
