Day 1 Pack in (9 mi with a 70lb pack) and camp at the Cirqus of Towers
Day 2 Attempted Pingora but somehow accidentally went onto the approach to
Wolf's head...Got caught in the 2pm afternoon thunderstorm and repelled down
the tower
Day 3 Climbed South Buttress of Pingora. Checked out approach of Pingora NE
face, E face, and Wolf's head Becky Route, E ridge.
Day 4 Moved camp from Cirque to the Deep Lake
Day 5 More storm come in, and will keep rain |

发帖数: 2636 | 2 1.这个地方太神奇了。今天在停车场的时候，上百辆车，大部分是外州的，KY, MN, FL
...哪里的都有，还有很多rental car，每年夏天，远道而来的人们汇聚这里。路上见
到的90%的人都背了>50lb的大包。这里backpacking的时间，是以"week"计算的。你要
是跟人说你只在wind呆了几天别人会惊讶的。
2. Cirqus of Towers和Deep Lake是两个最popular的climbing area，其中Cirque一个
地方就有2条50cc的路线。但很多人更喜欢Deep Lake。Deep Lake的海拔要低一点,
camping在树林里面，攀爬路线中4-8pitch的中等长度，中等难度的路线更多。而且视
野开阔，storm 来临的时候可以更早发现。
3. 这次的partner是个从来没有backpacking过的同学，虽然也一天car to car爬过
half dome，觉得他应该没问题，结果这次真的发现问题还是很大的。Wind的路线是需
要mountaineering的常识的，否则会犯很多错误。举几个例子：

发帖数: 2636 | 8 最后一张circus of towers的全景，整整一圈到处都是climb。很多路线，几乎每一个
pitch拿到别的地方都可以成为classics
岩石的质量也异常solid。我毕竟是爬惯了光溜溜的砂岩的，一开始lead的第一个pitch
连class 4都不放心，都要放pro。后来习惯了花岗岩的质地，行动就快多了。
除了wind river，我们在WY爬了几天limestone。习惯了花岗岩的粗糙，在光溜溜的石
灰岩上leading真是心惊胆战。

一套rack 最多15lbs, harness 加上一些附件不会超过5lbs, 绳子10lbs
这些即便是你一个人背, partner不帮你share, 也才40 lbs. 其他的东西加在一起应该
不会超过20lbs
如果partner帮你背绳子, 那就更不会这么重了

我们的rack大概有25-30LB, not really an alpine rack, but a full rack enough
to cover splitter crack and off-width |

cam for most of the time. Next time hex will definitely be on my alpine

I've learn my lesson this time. Hex is great for wind river and a lot of
times I was staring at the crack and thinking: I wish I have hex...You don't
have to use tri-cam in the winds though. |
