不会回国，这个可能就是传说中的移民倾向吧。以前有三个米国签证，看来现在还是比
较严格的。。。俺已经出境换了新h1b所以无所谓了。这里把时间说一下给其它童鞋做
个参考，心里有点谱。
6。1是理论最后一天工作，递转换身份申请。
一周左右时间收到receipt.
8.1 h1b approve.
8.11 收到uscis的notice of decision. 上面的日期是8.6。
俺当时木有statement说明为什么转换身份是临时的。可能这个也有影响。不过俺也不

面完groupon心态彻底变平和了 再面任何其他公司也都不会再觉得折腾了
总共面了 10个人 onsite前两轮电话+ onsite 5个人 + onsite后3轮电话
面试的过程中要去的组因为内部人re-org被强塞了几个人 offer自然也没了

这是个back to back两小时的面试，两轮的流程都是先问了些简历的东西，然后对方介
绍下自己的项目，然后coding。
1. coding题很简单，可能是半research职位，所以coding要求不高？
1) 给一堆document, d1, d2, d3...dn，要求给出 reverse-index: <{word1,
frequence1}, {word2, frequence2} ...>
---document很多，reverse index没法都放在内存里头，所以讨论了下如何partition
---还讨论了下不同document的类型，word之间的delimter可能不同，document预处理等

但是目的本身也一样，学术界本质目的还是求新知。work的好的但是已经被充分理解的
，或者heuristic没有太大通用意义的发不出来也是正常
classification算法方面我觉得random forest, deep learning, boosting相关的都比
SVM更实用。SVM主要是背后的learning theory牛逼，算法本身已经有点过时了，因为
复杂度高并且本质上是shallow learning，而且不容易fine tune，但是理论不会过时
，因为理论就算暂时解释不了实践，也还是可以持续发展的。
clustering目前无解，因为问题本身定义是模糊的，对任意数据最多能够假设一个
gaussian mixture，也就是用k-means。很多文章也在质疑这个是science 还是 art。
但是可以期待一个好算法帮助选择k-means里面的k，同时又像kmeans本身一样高效。

advanced学历的人牢牢限制住？那1100万估计连本科学历都没有，但依然可以靠自己的

有时候真的很想豁出去了，凭什么比你晚来两三百年，找个工作都要排队抽签看脸色。
凭什么起早贪黑辛勤工作的我随时可能被你贴上一个“非法移民”的标签，而你却可以

没有读过美国宪法，但凭感觉我相信制定宪法的美国先先们如果看到今年的美国，他们
也许会加上一条“这片土地上的任何有都有追逐自己的梦想的自由，只要他不侵犯别人

我就想问一下，如果真的被他们贴上了非法移民的标签，advanced STEM degree加上2

要做对raw数据的classification，information/features retrieval 等不太复杂的
mining。在这种情况下，计算效率远比其他重要。
根据我自己的工作来看，简单model大行其道有主要有以下原因：
（1） prediction: 一个较好的model能更好的解释test data的内在特点和发现
insights，但是大多在prediction上很难有显著的提高，特别是对classification。
（2） raw data：real数据往往太dirty，data cleaning和imputing很影响model的效
果。
（3） IP：头头们都喜欢能重复使用的东东，大大简化工作流程和提高效率。model越
简单，适应性越好，越容易推广
（4） 统计背景：要根据data的特点来设计更好的model，有时还要自己搞算法来计算
，一般统计的PHD才能做。很多人只是“只其然，不知其所以然”，在这种情况下又如
何可以改进model？ |

I94也是那时候过期。现在换工作，新的雇主的律师发来draft让我review。我发现他在
I129当中填写我的工作是于2014年7月21号开始到2017年7月20号结束。但是2017年7月
20号我的H1b的头三年都已经过期了啊，这个请高人指点。

简单介绍一下背景。非名校，非牛人，EE fresh Phd，machine learning方向，主要研
究理论和提一些方法。对做research很感兴趣。完全不觉得读PhD痛苦。相反经常自己
没事，周末去实验室做点事。主要目标在工业界找一个research type职位。这是自己
最主要的要求。因为必须是自己喜欢干的才能干的好，而且只要干好了，待遇也不会低
。个人对coding并不排斥，但是觉得coding只是一个工具，更重要的是要实现的内容。
已经有几年没用C和C++了，但是对自己的coding还是很有信心的，在国内工作过几年
SDE，觉得coding至少不是自己的弱项，虽然没有专门刷题练过。
老板很久前就说给一个PostDoc职位，可能也是因为这个，整个找工作的阶段自己心态
都很放松。6月开始正式找工作。8月下旬签offer。总共投了6、7家。面了两家G和A。

么山寨leetcode不一样，那个刷200题对实际工作毫无帮助（对面试也几乎无帮助），
刷Kaggle只要刷一俩题，差不多花三个月的业余时间，智力正常的理工科大学毕业生都
能对data science这个东西有个初步但是全面的了解，在数据清理，数据操作，建立模
型，评价模型和结果这些方面都有实际深入的了解，不会再出现“面试官问overfit了
怎么办，我说了Cross Validation，面试官看起来不高兴”然后下面回帖帮楼主的都是
不知所云楼主看了也是云里雾里这样的惨剧。你要是学好了就会发现，其实那个面试官
自己也不太懂就知道个概念才会问那个的问题，照着这个教程来，分分钟和面试官对L1
和L2 regularization 对稀疏feature的表现谈笑风生，如果搞的深入点把深度学习顺
道也会了，说个“其实dropout也是regularization什么什么的”，保证面试官立刻给
你跪舔，再也不敢上来卖弄概念自寻羞辱。

用浪费Hard pull。我也是因为看到这个，所以手欠申请的。今天仔细考了下古，好像
chase bl，有两种一种是上面说的直接收信的，另外一种是像你说的这种比较容易挂的
账户。
我猜chase就是用了点儿乱七八糟machine learning的模型，做下classification，或
者随便找点儿outliers看着不顺眼的全部干掉。这些烂七八糟machine learning模型估
计解释性也不好，所以我收到关卡原因说我行为怪异。
黑屋重新申卡直接悲剧掉的那些可能是曾经的问题比较大，离边缘比较远的申卡时候就不
能被classify 到正常用户。当然也有可能chase给明显的违规，类似买卖点数等等，硬
加了个时间的限制override classification。
你还有我的情况，可能正好在边缘状态，我关卡时候基本没有啥大问题。我基本不用大
量GC撸卡（只有关卡一年前的某一个季度撸了1-2k）；但是几个月前一次billpay；经

chase bl，有两种一种是上面说的直接收信的，另外一种是像你说的这种比较容易挂的
账户。
我猜chase就是用了点儿乱七八糟machine learning的模型，做下classification，或
者随便找点儿outliers看着不顺眼的全部干掉。这些烂七八糟machine learning模型估
计解释性也不好，所以我收到关卡原因说我行为怪异。
黑屋重新申卡直接悲剧掉的那些可能是曾经的问题比较大，离边缘比较远的申卡时候就不
能被classify 到正常用户。当然也有可能chase给明显的违规，类似买卖点数等等，硬
加了个时间的限制override classification。
你还有我的情况，可能正好在边缘状态，我关卡时候基本没有啥大问题。我基本不用大
量GC撸卡（只有关卡一年前的某一个季度撸了1-2k）；但是几个月前一次billpay；经

看我以前申请的Petition for residence classification 的证明材料,可是学校和
Office of General Counsel以前都没有任何人告诉我们去填这个表,一直到2006年秋季
学校一个老师才告诉我们,我也是在2006年秋季才第一次填这个表,并获得交加州居民学
费,现在想请问:
1.是不是由于我以前没有提交这个Petition for residence classification,就说明我
以前没有申请过,这个官司就一定会输?
2.Counsel office 一直拒绝我,也从没有提出过我没有提交Petition for residence |

个月签证就过期了，今天赶快把所有文件都准备好了，现在交上去还能行吗？还是肯定
来不及了，只能在签证到期时走掉？
想在网上填表，递交，但建立了USCIS ELIS账户，但怎么都填不了表，一按efilling
i539就出现错误，换了2个电脑，3个不同浏览器还是一样。只能全部纸张作业，准备明
天快递出去。
