It's one of the "surprises" GLS is claiming that CloudSat brings about. It
really depends on how one defines the word precipitation. BTW, I think GLS
means 28% of tropical clouds, not global average. Many of the stratocu are
actually drizzling.

50dbZ, so I don't know how effective to use cloudsat to track hurricane?

of two satellites Tuesday because of unsatisfactory weather conditions in
west-central California.
The scheduled launch of CloudSat and CALIPSO -- Cloud-Aerosol Lidar and
Infrared Pathfinder Satellite Observations -- from Vandenberg Air Force Base,
Calif., was scrubbed shortly before 6 a.m., EDT, due to higher than allowable
upper level wind conditions.
The next launch attempt is tentatively set Wednesday at 6:02 a.m. |

designed to help unlock the secrets of Earth's cloud cover, due to technical
problems, officials said early Thursday.
The CloudSat and CALIPSO satellites were scheduled to blast off at 10h02 GMT
Thursday from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, but the launch has been
delayed for at least 24 hours, Nasa announced.

each column of atmosphere one time. While in medical CT, they rotate the X-
ray tube around the patient (therefore many measurements are made).
Theorectically, to fully reconstruct the 3D field (human tissue or cloud)
requires the infinite number of sources and detectors. In order to invert
vertical profile of clouds, GLS makes many assumptions on the clouds (Austin
& Stephens, 2001). Some of them are not realistic. It is |

HURRICANE RESEARCH。
