可能换project,怕committee的人有concern.他认为committee meeting没有什么用。老
板让我把progress report写好，再找committee同意签字就行。
老板对我还算不错，先后两次花3000多送我去学习两项很有用的技术training.但是他
很有power（grant和文章系里的其他人都没法比）,所以系里的话一般都不听，喜欢我
行我素。我qualify之后就没做proposal的课题，而是做另一片一作文章，和别人合作
（文章已发TOP的杂志）。老板说我现在thesis什么都没有，所以要完成一个thesis才
能毕业。
我不想惹他不高兴，但是又不想让committee的人觉得不受重视。我如果可以挨个找
committee的人私下谈谈我的进展和老板的意思，让他们理解一下。他们会高兴的同意
暂时不开committee meeting 吗？这个版上faculty很多，你们有什么意见吗？还有一

manager做我的committee member。我却对此有些犹豫。因为我之前在这个公司实习过
两个暑假，里面这个manager也挺赏识我的，也说希望将来过去。我担心的是，如果他

The best approach is: Send your application, Move on, and Forget about it
until you are contacted.
It is often wishful thinking that you are a good fit to a program. You never
know how the search committee thinks, let alone your competition. "Fit" is
the most subjective quality the search committee has to evaluate an

如果是大系，招人领域的一小簇人组成一个search committee，由某个senior faculty
做chair。

There are three kinds of bbsers here, rookie, intermidiate, and merit bbsers.
My thinking is that we first make a new board called Committee which is

track position. The thing I found out today is that I have to include at one
woman and one minority faculty members in the committee. A funny policy,
per se.
As such, for those who are in the job market, you can roughly get an idea of
who might be in your search committee: those female and minority faculty
members are very likely will interview you.

联系，这个人是committee的chair吗？
系里招人做决定的时候，committee chair是不是比committee里其他成员更有发言权？
另外，campus visit还安排见School Dean(完全是别的行业的)和Department Head(和我
做也不相关)。这两位有决定权吗？

it doesn't say anything about whether you could approach committee members 'before' you submit your dossier, though.

committee的两个faculty，资深同事B和C找我，询问推荐意见，我实事求是评价了A的
工作能力，认为A有资格做这个工作。结果同事B当面说我提供的意见对A太好了，说我
的推荐意见不公平。
我认为B作为一个search committee的成员，根本没有资格在听取了我的意见之后说我
不公平。如果committee早就认为我会给A说好话，可以把我排除在推荐人之外不联系我
。B这么说实在太恶心了。
之前我并不知道A和B的矛盾很深，我无意中卷入这个问题，现在事实上B已经跟我因为
这个闹僵了。
有没有必要跟dean举报B的这个非常不professional的行为呢？ |
