just because of its conclusion, but also its methodoloy, I'd like to share
some of my thoughts.
Many people have tried this kind of regressions in the hope to find a way to
predict the future market movement. Although there are many more failures
than successes, I believe there is real value in it.
One critical requirement is that it should have a significant number of

I guess the conclusion is the heavy trading volume (not my volume, but
the whole market volume) does not undermine the performance of an ETF.
Based on that conclusion I would still prefer ETFs. I have an active
management style, the flexibility of ETF trading enables me to turn over
my portfolio quickly if needed, without triggering noticeable penalty.

information, e.g. 4 trillion dollars sitting in MMs, an all time high, and
reach vastly different conclusions (speculations). Whose guess is correct or

What I'm saying is from that you cannot deduce to the conclusion that DCA
from a pile of cash isn't good idea either, because risk is not additive.
You can only come to this conclusion if you don't care about risk but only
expected return, which is additive.

OTOH, I feel my thinking is quite similar to a recently published paper by
Erb and Harvey, nothing fancy really, just reverse to the mean stuff. Of
course, this time can be different, as people like to say.

暨刘迎秋院长、黄晓勇书记：
在过去半年多的时间里，引起海内外广泛关注的中国学界最大的新闻之一，就是贵院
2002年毕业生刘菊花硕士学位论文涉嫌抄袭事件。
据不完全统计，包括中央电视台、中央人民广播电台、新华社在内的多家权威媒体报道
了该事件，网络媒体对此事件的转载和传播更是不计其数。不仅如此，《中国日报》对
该事件的英文报道还将这一丑闻传遍了全世界。因此，依法对刘菊花硕士论文涉嫌抄袭
案加以查处，不仅事关刘菊花本人，而且关系到贵院、中国研究生与学位教育质量、人
文社会科学界乃至整个中国学术界在海内外的学术信誉。然而，半年多时间过去了，刘
菊花硕士论文抄袭事件迄今仍未见到处理结论。因此，我们决定给贵院及主要负责同志
写这封公开信，以表达我们对这一事件的严重关注。

OCEF正在参加一个慈善竞赛活动GlobalGiving Open Challenge (GGOC)，这个竞赛在9
月10号（美东时间10号凌晨0点开始到23:59）有一个bonus day，在这一天里有高达
5000美金的奖金和匹配基金等着我们去赢取。具体如下：
1、3000美金的匹配基金。在这一天里，前$12000有效捐款（每笔捐款不小于$25，不多
于$1000； 多于$1000部分不会被匹配，但将被计入bonus day的有效捐款）将会得到25
%的匹配，直到这$3000用完为止。也就是说，在这$3000用完之前，如果你捐$100，
OCEF将会得到$125。
